I find the ridiculous (and increasingly more so) trend of "child-proofing" the world disturbing.  If children do not learn about the world around them, how can you expect them to become well-adjusted members of society?  Turning 18 (or whatever the age of majority is -- 'round here it's 18) doesn't magically teach you what is and isn't appropriate, how to deal with stress and danger, and so forth.

Also, the Merriam-Webster dictionary?  Seriously?  I don't have a print copy handy, but the online one defines "oral sex" as "oral stimulation of the genitals."  What description could possibly be more clinical than that?  If these nuts think that is graphic, somebody needs to introduce them to porn, pronto!  Hell, even the romance section at their local bookstore will do.

Frickin soccer moms and the namby pamby sheltered lives they try to give to their children. By 5th grade at my school, everyone had a rudimentary sex ed knowledge just through social permeation, but parents bitched at the school so hard that they couldn't give us the class til late eight grade. Utter bollocks.

I had sex ed in year 6, at which time I was either 10 or 11. From what I can remember, I never really applied it to myself, it just seemed so abstract. Like it wasn't real. It certainly wasn't disturbing, it didn't really illicit any emotion at all. Up until that point I probably imagined that I knew all there was to know, although really I had no idea. Even after, my knowledge was less than what one would consider necessary. So, I don't think that children are particularly vulnerable to such things, like most things, it tends to just bounce off them with little thought.

I think that due to less proper sex ed, let's not forget the parent's lack of responsibility in teaching it as well, learning by word of mouth (or other such things; Great, now I might get banned just by mentioning that), learning from movies and TV, stupid friends, and etc.; children are just going to grow up to be an entire generation of dumb bastards (quite by definition of some) raising even more dumb bastards (again, by definition), and thinking abortion is the be-all-end-all cure to pregnancy.

I think the population just by a lack of responsibility (and not this kind of dumbassholery they call "responsibility") and a proper education, and priority system, is going to plummet within the next generation, and then some by the next.

Don't mind my attitude with this statement (and I don't mean any offense by any of it to anyone; just a thought), but I think we need a serious crisis to smack us over the head and actually think for ourselves again, and work towards survival again. That, or I think we need a 3rd World War, or the apocalypse to actually happen, (behind the scenes, it's actually conspired to be a controlled event to look like a serious crisis to get people off their lazy asses, and get to work, fend for themselves. Conspiracy for the greater good, end justifying the means. Oh, and no nukes or attempted genocide are allowed this time, though for initial scare (not actually doing it, just a smack to the face with a glove/gauntlet showing anyone means business.), but no actual damage should be done; just a friendly duel between all different nations trying to knock sense back into their people.) to knock some common sense back into the world. I mean, it worked with the last generations before the less responsible eras. I mean, when you look back, the given situations of war (either ones) made everyone damn resourceful and set their priorities straight.

Aye, parents should stop flipping out at anything meagerly sex related that kids have access to and spend their time actualy raising their kids, instead of just sitting back and pretending schools absolutely must raise their kids for them, according to their own standards.

If your kids come home and ask what oral sex is, you tell them they're too young to worry about that stuff, instead flipping out to the gullibe local (and most likely redneck filled) media about how a minor part of a school's material contains something a bit sex related.

I guess these morons still don't understand that their kids aren't them, but a byproduct of their stupidity that might actually become smarter than them, and they might become jealous of said intelligence. So, what's the most rational move? Prevent them from getting smarter by siezing every mean of gain of smarts by censoring the most abstract (by definition), and frivilous thing they can come across for the week.

Hell, cartoons have been nerfed by similar dumbassery, and we're having a bunch of weakling for the next generation because there's nothing to feed their imagination, or any entertaining violence to watch to bleed out any repressed agression. What happened to airing Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, proper Saturday morning cartoons?

What the hell is wrong with this picture? These next generations aren't going to be as privileged as our generations were, and they'll be pissed once they realized how much they missed out on (or think of us as the morons instead).

In all fairness, the ___ Movies started out as relatively solid parodies of their genre. They just kinda really suck now.

I'm not old enough to have caught Mel Brooks' movies when they first came out, but I enjoy them quite a bit, so your point stands.
