This game seems *way* simple.

I don't know if I could get into a game like this after playing Aurora...

In the game I just joined I just got done, sending none aggression pacts, and tech trade. I'm stuck in the middle again,  so I sent none aggression pacts to the two players that have a PC right behind them, so hopefully they won't attack me. That left three players who could easily attack me. I sent them all tech exchange invite, hoping for one bit from them, as those three both have another oppenent to fight beside me. I then sent tech exchange to the two empires that had an empire between us, with the added paragraph on how the mutually advantage gain couldn't be used against them.

I think I'll get the two none aggression pacts, and maybe two tech exchanges.

@Zangi:
The red player agreed.
Hell be focusing on wepons technology only, which he is willing to trade with me.
Guess that means we can focus on the other techs.

His expansion will focus on the south, so all I have to worry about is the orange player.

@Mindmaker alright.  I planned on doing some trades myself and share that with you.  I tend to only trade with people far away and not bordering me.  For obvious reasons...

If orange makes a move on you, I'll give him what-for in the backside.

I'll see about dealing with purple, teal and dark red later on...  Well you can two doesn't hurt.

@ductape
You know... in game 148...  its pretty damn hard to not consider expanding into your territory...  Assaults on others will be troublesome... due to choke points...

Gimmie some options will you?

Yep. I'm a defensive player. I only attack when threatened or when I am too large.

I was too large. So naturally I killed myself. But being threatened, I attacked too.
Either way it all worked out. I'm a vassal, and all I gotta do is only work on economy and Science, to upgrade scanning so I can give it to him.

And! I got to keep Cursa and Hoedus too! thats a total of 5 planets!

Winning? You play to win?
I play every game simply to have fun. Because being bored all the time is horrible. So having fun for a couple of days is nice.

I play to win though. Well, I did until I discovered Aurora, which has since eaten all my time away like a blood-crazed rabbit.

My tactical assignment.

Weapon and Speed are equally important.

Then jump range.

Then scanner range.

The jump range penalty can be delimited with high speed and long jumps have the disadvantage of not being able to do course changes, and not picking of ships in near by systems.

Scanning range in my opinion is the least important tech, as you are fully aware of your own imperial space. You really only need to know what the border planets of your rivals. It can be advantageous to know fleet movements  in deeper enemy space, but not nessicary, as its disadvantageous to move into enemy terrority nearer to there industrialized planets.

Economy is the cheapest to develop and the will pay for itself.

Science is the second cheapest investment and can be staggered to every other turn to have a high turn overrate with new tech to make your ships tougher.

Industry is the most expensive to dev., as spreading it through the empire only give you a /mild/ passive defense, but in order to have a decent size fleet you need about five industry points on a planet. Three nearly cuts it, but with five points you have a a decent fleet every two turns instead of 3.8 turns.
