I'm hoping to stomp out a lagger in expansion earlier, and appease the three other neighbors until I can decide when I am able to deal with them.

This isn't really compelling enough to warrant even the few minutes it takes to update shit. So I suppose I'll just dump all my money to someone else.

Give it to me! Mister Fuckmeister. All your planets too. :P

edit: By the way, turns out this game is being made by ex-employees of 2k Games (Bioshock) who were sick of churning out big budget FPS after big budget FPS. The game is only 4 months into development and will include more 4x staples in the future like customizable races. Furthermore, they plan to bring it to smartphones and the Apple app store.

Good to know it's being done by people who have actual experience designing massively popular games.

Also, I've been spending so much time planning strategy for this that I actually had several dreams about me planning strategy for this (not playing it). A bit disturbing.

How the fuck is that whining? I felt it would be polite to inform the other people in the game I was dropping out. Hell, I didn't even criticize it. It seems perfectly good and all, I just didn't find it compelling.

Also, look at the goddamn posts you're talking about. I don't remember a single one where it's not "<game> has <list of problems> wrong with it, but is still fun if you look past that". So... yeah.

I believe I shalt expand no more and focus only on defense.

Aye. I was hoping to expand and develop before running into my neighbors.

Eh, developing just means sitting on your arse and spending creds.  Well, there is political maneuvering... but... you can do ALL of that at the same time while at war too.

The game is simple.  Very.  But, it has some stratergy to it.

Logistics is half the battle.
Knowledge of enemy movement and capability is 20%
Infrastructure is 20%
Fighting capability is a mere 10%

You pick your battles.  You can find a lot about what your opponent is doing by how fast or slow they respond.

If they respond fast, it means they didn't take the time to gather up a fighting force, but it means they could have defensive advantage cause of it.
If they gather up their forces, it means they may move too slow and lose that defensive advantage to the enemy.

Move even slower and gathering more forces will allow the enemy to gather even more themselves, making the attack situation very unfavorable... and quite impossible.

Move too fast and a better prepared enemy will eat your forces alive as they march in 1-by-1 like lemmings...

About to enter my first engagement.

I have almost a three to one advantage.

Me and a friend are worried about Yellow, we might just kill him off if he keeps stacking up ships near me.

Someone stacking ships could mean they expect you to attack...  but it really depends on how planet-y the border is and distance between you two.

If its a bunch of planets within lvl 1 scanner range....  Yea, I'd stack defense too... level 2 scanner range too, depending on the number of planets...  Need for reaction time is made less.  (Doesn't mean you should let your guard down.  If you don't show a presence on the border, he is already set-up to blitz you....)

If the border is natural....  decent distance between nearest/most planets...  it looks like a war... and the guy really shouldn't have let your scanners pick him gathering his forces for an attack....

Depending on the enemy scanner range and planet placement....    and speed and ship range....  compared to yours...  and how often you log... you can set your fleets out of his scanners but close enough for a surprise rescue...

Defensive advantage shouldn't be underestimated early game...

I've already sent my ships.
Then my friend will back me up, then I back him up.

How do I attack!?

Just send ships to an enemy system.
