I agree that there are many Derpliens.

Though i, myself am pretty competant, and don't die too often, i just hauk ass when i get hit, and crawl back over to them on the ceiling.

Also: I've always made it my mission to smash every light i can, which really assists in sneaking, Marines can't see all too well.

I just avoid preds most of the time, Marines can kill them more easily than Aliens.

Actually when I was playing I killed allot more Preds than marines.  Maybe there just weren't enough marines, but it seemed like they'd almost always blast me to pieces even when I dropped down behind them.

Also, Umiman, they're not just trying to attract new players, they're trying to attract modern console generation players.  They don't really give a crap about PC because consoles are far more lucrative.  PCs are just an extra source of income with little need for investment.  The X-Box 360 is after all just a dumbed down gaming PC.

where did this idea of predators not attacking whilst cloaked come from. Im pretty sure the point of cloaking was to assist in attacking, and they use it in Pred 1 & 2 and avp 1 & 2 games. Ive always favoured the marine, as i like the survivalist paranoia.

Avp 1 and 2 were two of my favourite games, if i had a pc that could run this, i would be in eager anticipation.

Wait, what?
These two games are quite literally antique. Atleast AvP 1 should run on pretty much every computer.

Also, AvP 2 was really, really fun. Too bad it doesn't run anymore on any system newer than OS X 10.3.
Better check the MacPlay site...

EDIT: Oh JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! MacPlay was sodomised by Satan Himself and devolved into this.
Goodbye, MacPlay :'(

Mumbo Jumbo!  The guys who made Myth 3 and bought out Ritual Entertainment, killing the Sin series in the process... I don't like them, but don't want them to die because then the Ritual employees they kept on would lose their jobs...

Discs are easy to dodge, start running parallel to the predator as soon as you see the laser, if you're in a hallway jump on the roof.  If you're not an alien, uh...  Shoot them?  Hide?  Cry?

The hiding/crying only apply to non-aliens in hallways.  Anyone can dodge a disc in the open area.

They do, but not as much as the old games.

They follow the targeting laser.

The old games don't run well on new computers, AVP classic requires a fan-made exe to run on Windows, or at least the non-steam version does.

This Steam version is just... irritating.  It's still playable just fine, but they altered stuff in such stupid ways to make it more idiot friendly.  Marines can't select weapons with hotkeys.  The auras around characters in the alien's hunting view mode change color depending on whether or not they see you....  I'm just waiting to see what other stupid shit they do... oh yeah, and they have the video screen movies from the Gold Edition which in my opinon were inferior to the originals.

DEATH MATCH:
If you love a game with frantic, brutal chaos then Death Match in AVP multiplayer is for you. It’s all about getting the most kills in the time limit set. Players can also win the match by hitting the target score before anyone else.

INFESTATION:
For total over-whelming mayhem, nothing comes close to the tension and potential for pant-wetting scenarios than INFESTATION. One player starts the match as an Alien Hunter and their task is to kill the Marine prey. When a Marine player is killed they will join the Alien Hunter team and help to kill off any remaining Marines.

MIXED SPECIES DEATH MATCH:
just like Death Match, but with mixed species. Two teams, made up from all three species fight to get the most kills in the set time limit or to reach the target score before the other team.

SURVIVOR:
For the ultimate test of stamina, play Survivor Mode. Survivor allows for up to four players to enter an arena to fight waves of progressively stronger aliens. Each arena will be set up with two main areas. One will be a platform which is relatively easy to defend; the other will be an area where ambush by aliens is more likely. Supplies of health and ammo will re-spawn in this second area.

PREDATOR HUNT:
If you’re after a more stealthy multiplayer game go for Predator Hunt. In this mode one player is selected to become the Predator Hunter, the rest of the players take the role of the Marine prey. The Hunter must use the Predator’s stealth abilities and advanced equipment to pick off the prey and score points. The Marines will need to defend themselves from this threat and if possible, to kill the Hunter.

SPECIES DEATH MATCH:
Species Death Match pits a Marine team, Alien team and Predator team against each other in a race to get the most kills within the set time limit or to reach the target score before any of the other teams.

DOMINATION:
Take capture the flag to a whole new level with Domination. In Domination two teams fight for ownership of Control Points around the level. Owning a Control Point gives the team a small and steady, stream of points. The more Control Points owned, the more that team scores. A team will win when their score has reached 100 points.

Ten years later and what do we get?  Half as many players, sluggish controls, and shiny graphics...  :-\

/sadsigh

EDIT:  I bet you can't even shoot off an alien's inner jaws... :(

I like the sound of this, I liked that mode in the first/second* one too though :)

This could be fun as well, although I imagine any competent group of marines will just group up somewhere with good firing lines and wait. It's very hard for an alien to infiltrate then.
