Yeah, the interface sucks, and they went way overboard on loading screens. There's a loading screen to load the opening cinematics, which you will most likely skip, and another loading screen to load the main menu. There are loading screens to load loading screens in at least one instance.
Thankfully one of the recent patches made the mouse more sensitive, so at maximum sensitivity it's almost satisfactory.
I've decided my favorite race is the Predator. If you can get the shoulder cannon and proximity mines you're the ruler of that central room, and no one will dare to go in. If you don't get the shoulder cannon and proximity mines, though, you're just a big, slow, (sort of) invisible alien. You gotsta get your tech if you want to do anything at all as predator.
Insta-kills are annoying, but they make you an easy target. I'm noticing the insta-kill spamming decreasing, people are probably figuring out not to use them if people are around.
I am also up for a bay12 session, probably with some houserules, like no teamkilling or two race-games. Like he said, four or so marines and a predator would be awesome, as well as four or so marines and two or three aliens.
Oh, another thing, unrelated to the demo. The preorder benefits are lame. A free mediocre RTS and three lame skins. They really could've made the skins better. Number six is identical to a regular alien except he has a 6 burned into his face, Kaneko is boring, and the alien head predator looks retarded.
Kaneko should've had a custom helmet or something. Number 6 could've stood to have some fancy markings, maybe red or white trim to go with the black (I highly doubt he's actually blue like the screenshot shows, not only would he be easy to see in the dark, but there's ablue light right behind him) and the predator could've just had a fancier mask and some skulls on his shoulders. You can't go wrong with skull shoulderpads, even Steve Urkel would look badass with a big alien skull on his shoulder.
Just one shoulder, if you have two it's not as badass. Don't ask why. I don't make the rules, I just dictate them.
EDIT: I've decided what I hate the most about this. Weyland-Yutani thanks you for your patience. After fighting through the matchmaking (Why do they put this stuff here? Do they not know what their buyers want? Are they self-destructively cruel?) seeing that snarky little comment is enough to make me fly into a berserk rage.
