Oh man... sooo consolized.... god it hurts...  Makes me even sadder that some ungrateful whelp stole my AvP gold install disk when I was working at that youth center computer lab in high school. :'(

AvP Gold is on Steam under AvP Classic 2000 which has been generously updated by Rebellion to somehow support modern monitor resolutions and also has basic Steam functions like inviting players to your game. It is also only $5.

So it turns out Q is a reasonable place to put the sprint button with the circumstances, at least for predator and alien, because shift is a great place for Focus mode, and you can't pounce while sprinting, so there's no huge need to be using them both at the same time unless you really have to move.  I'm thinking about taking my brother's corded console controller since apparently our 360 has kicked the bucket, and I'll try it with that, I'll send him a text now.

Last I checked that was without multiplayer.

AVP does have multiplayer.  If it doesn't work for some reason and you absolutely hate AVP3, AVP2 has a fan-made patch that skips the Sierra update process so you can still play multiplayer.  It usually has at least one server with 10+ people on, and is lots of fun if you can handle homing discs, shoulder-machineguns, and no dynamic lighting.

Ok, when this steam version first came out it said very clearly that it didn't have multiplayer support.  Now it says it does.  I guess they patched it.  And thank science it has a fecking server browser!

Oh my fucking god... what have they done?!....  They consolized the original AVP!!!!!  THEY.... MUST....DIE!!!!  Death to Rebellion!!!!  Fuck them all!!!  Where are my fucking weapon select keys you bastards! DIE DIE DIE DIE PIE PIE PIE DIE!!!! >:(

Seriously though. WHAT THE FUCK!?  AVP 2000 has no number keys to select your weapons.  They're just gone!  And the default control setup has stuff mapped to a fucking gamepad!  Did they just fucking hate their fans that much?

I can't believe they still kept the taunt button.

Should I demand a refund?

The default control scheme assumes you have a gamepad?  That's pretty retarded, if that's really what they did.

Anyway, someone made a pretty good point about Deathmatch.  Since it's Deathmatch, people are forced to learn how to fight their own species, giving you a better tactical base for when the real game comes out.

I need tips on killing Predators.

I also recently found out that heavy attacks pass through blocks.

Against predators, pounce on them then start block/countering.

Most people don't spam heavy, and if they do just light hit them.

So I downloaded this for 360, because it wouldnt run on my PC, and I hopped right in.

About an hour later, it's still searching for games. I blamed the living in Australia and the Strict NAT at the time, but apparently other people have been getting it too.

I havent even played a game yet, but I've had it for a couple of days now.  :-\

Played it for the 360. Have a few problems with it though.

First: Any other weapons besides the shotgun and pulse rifle are pretty much useless to marines. The sniper rifle sucks ass in the enclosed corridors, and you're too open to getting hit by a predator anywhere open.

Second: This might be just with the demo level, Refinery, but the Predator can pretty much camp in a spot only reachable by aliens and predators and pick off anyone. Marines can't hit them, and aliens can't get close enough unless it's an organized rush.

Third: Really need an option to jump down on marines from above as a xenomorph. If you can, I haven't figured it out how.

Fourth: Keep the party you were playing with a la Modern Warfare 2. It is FUCKING ANNOYING to have to look for a new game, and find new people, after you finish a match.

It's still a great game though. The alien is great fun, sprinting and jumping from a corridor to the wall, impaling people on your tail, and taking humans out with your second mouth is just badass. Haven't played as predator yet, but I have as a marine. The only problems I have with marines is that in deathmatch, they are much too weak to compete with any of the other species. I have one only once as a marine in deathmatch.

To jump at people from above (or anywhere else) use focus and when there's an indicator around them use your light melee attack.

The marines also have the smartgun, which is probobly their best weapon. Auto-tracks targets, but it takes up both weapon slots and you can run or jump. It up on the platform at the back of the big room.

I dunno where you mean about the predators secret spot, but you can sneak up on them as an alien no matter where they are. Some of the ledges in the big room have sly little backways up to them. Duno about being a marine, but i assume you could just get behind cover and shoot at them?

Also, theres a button on the PC version which i assume is on consoles too that lets you just detach from what you're stuck too as the alien. (it might be the transition button? Q on my keyboard) You press that and you'll drop down, really good for getting behind a lone marine and munching him. :D

The more I play this game the more it's growing on me, at first I was really dissapointed, but now the good stuff is shining through the crappiness of the netcode and bugginess.

Yeah, it grows on you very quickly.  I had to turn my resolution down to 900x600 or so, but now it runs really smooth and I'm almost always in the top 3.

Except apparently that was a Yesterday only thing, and now I suck.  Also, did anyone else notice that the aliens seem to attract retards?  You could have the marines and predators all members of an elite clan and teaming up, and the aliens would still be tail-whipping each other off the ceiling.
