YATA: Segment One
« on: January 25, 2010, 12:05:51 pm »

And now we have Yet Another Text Adventure.  In this case, I will be posting segments for every action chosen (provided by other posters, hopefully), and ideally the story will unfold in an interesting manner.

___________________________________________________
Everything was darkness, and everything was gone.  Awareness flickered for a moment, seeming to stretch for eons, and slowly grew stronger.  Something resolved itself into being, a squat box of a room.  Slowly, things resolved themselves.  The room flickered for a moment, clean white dressed stone, then twisted.  The walls are caked with blood, and a sickening damp clings to all.  Heat stifles the room, and everything seems slightly hazy.  Four chains hang from the wall, neatly placed in a square, shackles dangling from the ends.  You see nothing within them, but feel as bound as surely as...
Something.  As surely as something.  Something from long ago.

Examine self
Hoping to understand, you look all around the room, but you see nothing that you could call yourself.  Confused, you try to remember why you are here, but trying only makes you feel vaguely ill.  A muted howl seems to come from somewhere beyond the walls.

Try and imitate the howl. If you can make a sound that is similar to the original, repeat it loudly. Don't stop to consider the dangers of this action.  ;D

Eat the stuff on the walls. It's bound to be edible and not infected!

Wondering at the howl, you once again realize that doing things without a body will probably be difficult, and wondering how you can possibly see, everything suddenly darkens for a moment, and the sense of illness grows.  You try to  move, if it could be said that you were able, and feel some form of shifting.  The chains suddenly pull taut, and a low buzz fills the room.

Try to find/form a body.
Attempting to struggle further only seems to make the buzzing louder, and the cell walls seem to be writhing, though when watching carefully there seems to be nothing that should be moving..

See if the buzzing stops if you stop moving for a bit.

Unnerved by the buzzing, you try to relax, once again wondering at your strange situation.  As time slowly stretches longer, the buzzing slowly fades, though a low hum still seems to fill the room.

Is there anything within reach that you think you can interact with? Can you mess around with the chains?

Turning your attention to the chains, you notice that they are still hanging in the air, as if holding something, and they do not appear to define a particular shape.  if anything, they are splayed out as if holding a multitude of things.  The humming continues, not changing perceptibly.
