OH SHI-

Uh, to answer your question, yes, this is still going on.  Two weeks ago, I was going to start making an elaborate waterway system for a fountain.  Like all elaborate construction projects, I kind of balked on the details and got frustrated.  Then a lot of personal stuff came up, and I forgot about the game.  Then the Other Games section got me re-hooked on Medieval: Total War and Mount & Blade and Minecraft again.

A pox upon all your houses for destroying my free time!

But anyway, yeah I remembered that I started a forum game a couple days ago, and I'll actually get shit done this weekend.

Simply by posting in the thread. I was also shocked and pleased to have had my desires anticipated. Although in reality I'd have been too lazy to ask. So this is the best possible outcome.

Just go back and read the updates.  I know I mentioned you somewhere, when a carpenter migrated in and named him after you.

Oh yeah, HAI GUIZ, I'm back, with your monthly Tombcities update.  I've been busy, sort of.  In the game that is.  You'll see.

I have never in my years of fortress management concocted a disaster of such scale.  I'm pretty proud of myself actually, it really is when things screw up that Dwarf Fortress is most entertaining.  Nonetheless, I don't really know what to do now.

If I can keep the fort alive by some incredible luck until another migration arrives, the fort can yet live on.  But it's quite likely that the abundant death would frighten them off anyway, provided I can make these psychopaths get their shit together before they starve or martyr themselves.  Reclaiming is always an option, but that would eliminate the hippos that make it all worthwhile anyway.  What to do, what to do...

Oh hey, I was JUST thinking "Hey, I wonder how Tombcities is doing" and then you update it. How nice...

I'M DEAD?! AND ALL MY FRIENDS ARE DEAD?!

Anyway:

The hippos will not vanish, they will become invisible. Much more dangerous

Looks like you have something nice going on here. I'll come around to read it later, just marking it so that I can. It's one of my duties as one of those people who just hangs around the forums waiting for the new version and answering nooby questions.

Any excuse to post this link again.

The hippos will not vanish, they will become invisible.
...God help me if I don't strangle the survivors myself.  Holy crap that's scary.

Desperation.  And because I thought it would work.  I mean, I've always been able to mob undead creatures before with the tried and true Recruit Rush, including the named hippos that came with the map.  I guess everyone can be wrong sometimes.

"Looks like I was right about that mood."

"Hey, I'm legendary."

"Ha, 'Myroc's left hand.'"

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING MAN?"

...

So, dibs on next metalsmith.

Yeouch. I guess that's what I get for making Carippo carp/hippo crossbreeds. What irony.

And here I thought I'd live to see the next release...I didn't even know I'd been dwarfed!

Also, if you reclaim, the named killer hippos etc. will stick around to savage the 2nd expedition.

It's somewhat silly that 20+ dwarves weren't able to knock a couple of skeletons to pieces. Those hippos must be highly agile and incredibly magically strong. I guess if you can move without muscles you have to be a beastly monster.
