I think we know who we're sacrificing to our Hippo Overlords first!
I guess the answer to that question will be "Whoever's standing furthest away from the fort and closest to the hippos".

It doesn't help that Hippo is in charge of making and placing traps.  Everyone watch your steps.

Sorry 'bout no update in the past couple hours (which I guess I step myself up for or something).  Been watching hilarious Let's Plays, a terrible new weakness I've acquired.

Feel free to PM me which Let's Plays you're enjoying, I just finished watching one of God Hand for old time's sake.

Oh my God, I'm the motherfucking Fist of the North Star Jesus Christ!  Yeah, that's a good one.  I was watching a Metal Gear Solid 3 play by ChipCheezum and General Ironicus, only to find out they have a giant YouTube account, made of nothing but MST3000 style teardowns of other, really horrible Let's Plays.  The Pong one nearly killed me.

Anyway, this Community Fort is off to a smashing start.  18 hours and 47 posts and I've barely started playing.  I've embarked and set about cleaning up the area.  Any plans for what I should be building in the first year?  Unfortunately, the Reclaim problems have struck and the two pages of zombie hippos are gone.  I'm sure the map will still attract animals (and elves I should add), but it won't be nearly as frightening as before.  I could always reload the original save, barricade the two survivors in the pantry, and wait for migrants.

Eh, whatever.  What should I be doing this first year, people who don't want me to reload?

What are these Let's play things?

Also make sure you work me to the..."bone"...Making traps, so i get legendary status at it.
Hehehehehehehehehehe.

Edit:
I say give it one more reclaim shot. If no skeletal hippos, then use old save.

I reckon you should reload and barricade the two survivors. For honor, never accept defeat.

No, don't reload. Those hippos are still their. They're just invisible... skulking in the shadows, hiding in trees, waiting for the right moment to pounce and kill us all in one fell swoop.

It's what happens to named animals in places that are reclaimed, IIRC.

Then we must send out a scouting party!  And by "scouting party" I mean "Hippoman"!

Just for fun, I'm trying the "reload and survive" option (I've got both, so I can switch to whichever one people want).  I've become rather enamored with my two remaining dwarves and their kitten and muskox.  Instead of beating each other to death like the first time around, I moved quickly enough to get a defensible position started.  After some initial hiccups, the two survivors have gone from tantruming to ecstatic.  Why?  Because they're Dwarves - they found love in this hostile land with each other, and they accidentally built a really snazzy Trade Depot.

Maybe I should put up a poll.

Think we should name the two dwarves Toady and Threetoe?
