Absolutely will not fight unless cornered and surrounded

Will Fight no matter what
Every last soldier available
Will attack if little resistance is offered
Rangers
certain Nobles (dungeon master will kill or be killed in a fight with an escaped thief he/she was dragging to a cage)

Kind of mostly obvious, but heh.

I wonder if any of that will change with the new attribute stuff and the drill classes (citizen-soldiers anyone?).

Militia? Could be useful to have in case your real soldiers are off doing their own thing...

Since you can draft dwarf at any moment, this list is kind of inacurate.

"Help, Help, goblin is attacking me! Where are soldiers? Help!"
"Congratulations, Kivish. You have been drafted. Now, stop runing and fight!"
"Uh oh ..."

You forgot the hammerer. I once had one go outside to deliver justice to a dwarf, and he got attacked by a goblin ambush party. While I was thinking "just in time gobbos, wheeeee", he bashed their heads in, and less then 1 minute later 5~6 goblin corpses were spread around a 20 tile area from the original ambush spot. Later he got to the dwarf and delivered justice, breaking 2 of the poor dwarf's bones.

I let that hammerer live, he deserved to.
