Hehe. I hope you all realize that the first release will be horribly and catastrophically buggy. ;)

But hey, that's part of the fun.

Actually, that's the most fun. I'm hoping for something along the lines of,

"My fortress was going along great, and then I tried to butcher a mule for some extra leather, and OHMYGOD WTF the donkey has boiling gold blood??!!!?! Oh god and now it's still alive and running around setting my dorfs on fire oh noes!!!!"

Hmm. Okay, if that isn't a bug, I want to mod it in now.

While this thread has become hilarious, I don't think anybody read into the first post enough to realize that I was being sarcastic, poking fun at all the new "next version" threads.

I'm not. My computer's a total piece of crap and I doubt I'll be able to get more than a dozen FPS at best even with as little as 50 dwarves in a 2x2 embark area.

Irrelevant.

In the tradition of the last couple big releases, I give you The Final Countdown.

So close I can feel its breath down my neck.
So close I can feel its smooth and round posterior...

Yes.
That sounds pretty hot, actually.
I'd tap that.
Uh-huh. Lots of things have breath, and an ass

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Need custom Z-level limit for construction. And a dispenser here, too.
Need a dispenser here!

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.
