My first Fort River: Will it flood?
« on: December 06, 2007, 07:32:00 pm »

I have been working hard on a fort and have decided to make a fort river. Will my hard-working dwarves live-or die? I'll post results later.

Hehe, sorry for not explaining, was in a hurry. I mean a 3 tile wide river that goes THROUGH the actual fort. Possibly deadly.

Results:

Partially flooded, nothing important.

Hehe, if the water is brought down a few levels, just make sure the water has an unobstructed path of escape, or it will try to flow back up to its original level (height).
There is (last I checked) no flooding like in the pre-3d (z-level) version of DF.

Besides, it's always good fun to find out that you planned it out wrong, and see that you just doomed those poor dwarves to a slow drowning/painfully tear-apart by carp.

Oh yeah, watch out for fish. Don't let them into your fort river! Use grates! (Grates stop fish, don't they?)
