The least you could have done was throw down some booze and seasoning. Abyssal Monsters that Creatures of the Light Know Not Of aren't savages, y'know. Sharing's caring.

You actually WILL, but none of the fancy fire will appear. You'll just get a message saying you spit fire into so-and-so.

^ Only in the Dig Deeper mod. I've tried it in a vanilla version of DF, and you can't breathe fire.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Actually the "fire breathing" of Dig Deeper is a token-based melee attack that does burn damage. There's no specific way to do the fan of ungodly dragonfire yet, but probably Toady will put in a way to execute special attacks in the next version.

Oh man, I can't wait. That spiderman mod I made while I was bored one night will finally get some use.
Flaming spiderman? Webs, fireballs and firebreath! Yay!

Firewebs.

...

Although that would be kinda self-defeating.

IIRC the only special attack you can do is poison and that is just a random chance on a bite attack.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

If you recruit companions with special attacks like that, do they use them?

Because they are AI driven, yes. Giant Cave Spider companions will also shoot web. However, friendly fire will incur unless you have the appropriate tokens to avoid them.

Actually, considering it can make a source of fire anywhere and then light it, that's very deadly.

I've always thought of dragons as kamikaze booze igniters rather than proper enemies.

Then again, the only dragon I've ever faced was roundly trounced by a lone idiot who ran onto the battlefield, bashed his tail with his artifact mace and crushed its skull with the next blow.

To make a dragon playable, won't you have to create a dragon civ?

Wouldn't that make cities of dragons?

No, since you don't have to give them somewhere to spawn.
