While the military seems to be a highlight of the next version (or at least, many many features affect it), I would have to say I like the material system best. I don't make mods, and I haven't played any yet, but the fact that things are made of materials is pretty epic if you change it around. That, and dragons can breathe any material sounds like it would lead to some hilarity.
Think about it: a dragon that could breathe molten gold, or (as the list suggests) Dwarven lungmen.

I'm looking foward to colossi(or something large that can bleed) with the blood of acid/magma, so that when you eventually Wound them, they melt you.

It has a wonderful defense mechanism. You don't dare kill it.

you'll have to turn the river into a rain machine, creating a LOT of steam. Possible?

I generally send it into itself, you can also carve fortifications at the edge of a map if the layer is stone.

Make sure you have enough room with drainage, i only had 3 cells and it backed up hard.

I am looking forward to the whole thing, yet not at the same time - I barely have reins on this version let alone all the sweet fancy new stuff.

Oh this version was killed once i started read and hearing about the changes--the sparring is just so goddamn huge and the underground promises to be like 20 bottomless pits/HFS/chasms/underground river rolled into one.

O well, I have waited this whole long time and I am 98% certain that it will be worth it.

I would have to say that I most excited for the Underground, Arena, and the new healthcare

well and, if this shall indeed be how it is, the greatly expanded amount of z-levels. Because, even though my past project of a trade depot i colapse from all the z-levels up on my rather flat map, sending those poor elf and human merchants falling all the way down the hole i dug under it, down to the lowest level i could. Even though at was pretty nice, besides those dead animals in cages the elves brought, i would always love to do that or other 'dropping' type projects with even more z-levels

Strange how you can think of the military, having the material and underground upgrades.

On every fort i'm forced to watch my first 10 military dwarves wrestle until their elite then go out with a weapon that they picked up for the first time, if i ever gave them a weapon or forgot to make them drop the weapon when they stand down its dead dwarves everywhere. I had a legendary shield/full steel clad dwarf spar against a legendary axe user and eventually the axe won.
