I am so excited for the next version!
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:00:59 pm »

So excited in fact that I just had to tell you all, considering how close it is to crunch time (if all goes well)

What feature are you most looking forward to in the new version?

For myself that would be burrows.

Burrows, yes.
Once I get used to all the features, I'm going to make a fort where every 7 dwarves has a burrow for themselves.

List of features in the new version (Unofficial?)
I'd say the new military features. More control, better sparring, no more stacks of single bolts. Though health care looks fun, too. Also potentially Fun depending on how quickly surgeons can learn.

Why does my adventurer keep crying?
Greiger's is actually correct...  sadly enough.  The emotional circumstance processor is still turned on, with a randomly rolled up personality, but they can't express themselves or take control...  they can only cry.

Epidermic Skin layers.

It'll be fun cutting off hunks of elf skin and fat while still fighting them.

I would have to say: burrows, improved squad control, and improved health care.

Know what? Screw it. I'm most excited about everything!

Custom workshops, arena mode, and the new Champion system. I really dislike the current one where you have all the diverse groups of differently-colored "Hammer Lords" and "Swordmasters" running around, and then they all just become champion after champion after champion.

Do I have to pick just one?  ;D Next version is going to seem more like a sequel than an update to me.

This is great, adding this much depth to the game will keep most of the mundane elements exciting while exploring the oddities.

The big problem with all this new information is the sheer data processing and variables at work here...the updates will allow for an amazing four-dwarf, two room fortress. Will this update come with efficiency updates too?

No single bolts lying around any more?

Hospitals?

Burrows?

It's really, really hard to decide, but I'll go with the highly improved military.

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Underground features, then burrows and the arena. I do tend to turtle, so knowing there's something down there is fun.

Definitely underground features, as I've never in my 10+ reasonably long-lasting forts discovered anything more interesting than a magma pipe.

Who isn't excited? :)

One of the things that I am really anticipating is the 15 z-levels + the highest level on the map cap has been lifted, both for above and underground, which will allow for bigger things to be done in flat regions.

The amount of dwarves I'll kill before I figure out how to use the new features.

I sure hope there is no end game timer like in the old 2d version, or atleast have it be able to be toggled in the ini file.  Otherwise i feel this version will be disappointing, even with all the new stuff.
