Well, even if you had any guns in orbit, there's also an alien fleet there, so. The remnants of the region's armoured and air force are on their way, but they're not in range yet.

Also, Phantom, sorry, but the Lancers are lasers (actually quite new tech on the planet), so you can't lay down oceans and continents of lead. But hey, you can always switch to your Str. 3 Stubpistol, it fires bullets!

You move to another window for a better angle of the creature and continue firing. The neverending stream of Lancer-fire finally makes it's mark, a Trooper getting a lucky shot at a weak point in the creature. (Alien Swarm Driver 1 Wound Lost!)

As in military rank or what? If that, they're pretty much basic grunts, though I'm sure our player character has a chance of promotion, with concentrating the fire of his allies with Mark Target and everything.
