You keep the stubpistol in sight as you proceed past the scavengers. They back to the wall, not daring to attack someone with a gun.
You head west.
After a long walk, you recognize the exit as the one nearest to the evac point. The journey was surprisingly easy...
Or not.
As you prepare to exit the tunnels, a massive alien beast leaps out from the exit. You can see it's somehow related to the smaller ones you encountered before.
They'd be exactly alike - if only the small ones suddenly grew three meters and a massive ranged weapon that looked like it had just grown on to the beast.
The beast turns to you and lets out a terrifying roar.
The roar is cut short by a very familiar sound from your time in the City Defense Corps. The sound of a Shredder Autocannon.
The very next second a volley of bullets find their mark on the beast's soft underbelly, dig in, and detonate.
They're firing Devastator Rounds, which makes sense against this type of enemy. Devastator Rounds are explosive and meant to be used against infantry. They seem to be very effective, even though the beast is obviously not dead yet.
Three men, the first one carrying a Shredder, the two others ammo boxes, hurry down the stairs, followed quickly by a CDC Sergeant.
The Shredder team stops at the end of the stairs but the Sergeant continues, raising up his Power Sword.
He cuts straight through the beast's armor with the powerful weapon and, after dealing two more (ineffective) blows, ends it's life with a precise stab.
He pushes the body to the rails, just to be sure.
'Sergeant Darrocks, City Defense Corps. We better get you above-ground.' He nods to the Shredder team, who start packing up their equipment.
' Oh, and for your information, keep your heads down. It's hell up there.'
