Heh. I like this thread because it reminds me to check if any of the bands are playing in the area, any time soon

Oh sweet, looks like they are playing in Seattle on the 30th.  Anyone else going?

Too generic.
Yell Boatmurdered, Urist, Toady One, Tarn Adams, Copperblazes or any of the other names that are suitably less common.

Well you might be a little biased.

That'd be why you yell "Toady One".
Not nearly as common, and sure to get you some weird looks, but you'll find DF players for sure.

Nah.  I tried that at a Toadies concert and it didn't work.

Well the concert was awesome, but I don't think anyone heard me, or if they did, it didn't register.  It was still awesome and they played wooden pints, so I'm happy.

I'm no metal head but you guys ought to just plug names of bands you like into last.fm or pandora if you're looking for good new music. I'm surprised by how many people don't know about those useful tools.

But I find it doesn't really work for discovering new genres of music much.

There should be an option to choose a song, and search for music that has nothing in common with it. Depressingly, I'd probably use this function far more frequently

What I'd like, as far as pandora goes, is if it started out with every song in its database in the pool of songs that it will play and you slowly refine your station into something varied.  It ends up getting very same-ish after a while.
