Kingdom of Loathing

Kingdom of Loathing is a browser-based "MMO" RPG with innumerable items, charming black & white drawings, clever jokes and popular culture references, reaching as far as the mighty Dwarf Fortress:

You rummage through the desks and find a cheap paperback novel. At least, you assume it's a novel -- it's in dwarvish, and the cover is pretty plain. It could also be a technical manual, I guess, or I dunno, "The Joy of Socks", or something. Anyway, that's not the interesting part. The interesting part is that the bookmark stuck inside it is an important-looking rectangle of thick cardstock, with dwarvish runes all over it and several boxes, all but one of which have holes punched through them.

Hopefully the dwarf won't have too much trouble figuring out what page he was on.

Jick, who came up with the game and keeps leading it's development is not unlike our favourite game developer, both are making a somewhat of a niche game that's been in beta (alpha in DF) for years. Both give more attention to detail and content than easily accessible interfaces (though KoLs is getting better all the time). And both keep living solely on donations from players. And oh yeah, they're about the same age too.

!!carp!!
!!carp!! is the DF clan in the kingdom qwertyuiopas set up sometime last year, the leadership of which was transferred to Rhodan after qwertyuiopas mysteriously disappeared from the Kingdom after finding an immensely valuable meat gem.

Now after a long long time, we finally have a clan dungeon and as of this posting the sewers leading to Hobopolis are open. If you have a character (old or new) that's not in !!carp!! yet, just say your username in this thread and you'll be accepted in the clan or put on the whitelist so you can get adventuring down there with your fellow DF players and get to fiddle with all other things in the clan.


Even if this thread somewhat focuses on !!carp!!, feel free to ask questions and discuss things going on in the Kingdom.

EDIT: Oh wow, this flopped spectacularly  I'm starting to get convinced there's not much interest in KoL around here.
