Streaming games
« on: January 22, 2010, 01:12:42 am »

As far as I can tell this should fit under the category "other games", though loosely, and shouldn't be violating any rules. This is not spam and I'm not a bot, as some of you might know from my previous posts.

Basically, game-voyeur.com is a live stream of video games managed by a dude (Josuke) and supported by various streamers. This is not a commercial endeavor, simply a group of people who like titles that range from the obscure to mainstream.

Titles such as:

La Mulana (NES)
The Touhou Project titles
RPG Soccer
X-Com: UFO Defense
Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth
Shadowgate
Demon's souls
Dead Space
Punch Out (Wii)
Various fighting games
Basically whatever the person streaming at the time wants to play

All kinds of titles that include just about every console, emulated or no. They are looking for some new streamers, too, and some have been interested in seeing DF streamed. There are those who also play tabletop RPGs over the internet, and when no one is streaming they play funny videos as "commercials".

There is also a vent server.

http://www.game-voyeur.com/ is the link. Hope to see you guys there! You don't have to participate in chat, you can just watch as a guest or whatever. No registering, no fees, no anything but watching and maybe playing if you become a mod and stream.

Would probably fit best in the play with your buddies board. It's a child board of this one.

If I take the meaning "child board" correctly, I wouldn't agree. The users range in age and the language can be inappropriate for younger ones.

No, child board means it's a sub-forum of this one, there's an entire board here just for Lets Play and Streaming.

Besides, most children of the kind you are refferring to wouldnt have the patience and stuff nessecary for playing DF, or any other Bay12 game. I'd like to see a 7 year old playing LCS, actually. That might be funny for a while, at least until they tried to do it in real life. Oh, you impressionable children.

That kind of went off topic. Verily. Whatever.

Interesting, there are other people around here who stream stuff sometimes (including me) who may be interested.

From what I can tell from the site it's a Livestream thing next to an actual chatbox. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this, and most of the people I've seen here use Livestream to broadcast, and Livestream have their own chatbox. I guess this website is just for the sake of having a nice URL to go to? Sorry if I don't quite understand.

You could probably find somebody here that would broadcast Dwarf Fortress, I could do it even, if people are -really- that interested. I would think that it isn't exactly the most exciting thing to watch unless, perhaps, you're in adventure mode.

If you look at this board and look at the top you should see where exactly this topic belongs. The appropriate board for his is here.

And just for kicks, here's Workerdrone's stream topic. There's a whole bunch of others but you should get the idea.

I don't know why they made their own chat, but it had something to do with some changes livestream had made to their chat program.

The talk about streaming DF has been largely off-hand, but there is some interest. I'm not sure how Josuke has structured who gets to stream when and for how long, but sometimes if there is enough demand they will switch out streamers as a result of preference for other games

I'm posting a second time because my school's computer, or perhaps simply internet explorer, is having a hard time with these message boxes after a certain amount of lines are entered.

Anyway, I reposted the topic under the child board.

So this allows you to watch someone playing a game realtime with chat but no commentary from the player?

Could be interesting depending on the player and chatting people.
