Build 73 brought in some big changes:

1. Defense was nerfed, you can only block up to 75% of an incoming attack, so no more invincible characters.
2. Speed was nerfed by 33%, no more buzzsaws or danmakufu.
3. Medium monsters won't wander near spawns, but I think they might still be lured there.
4. A couple of items were tweaked, but I don't know exactly how.
5. HP/MP regeneration is greatly boosted.

On the other hand: Next update will have dungeons!!!

I thought the defense nerf wouldn't really be fun, but the HP regeneration thing pretty much perfectly balances it out. Also, I still think knights are awesome. Can't wait for the dungeons, though.  :D

I haven't tried build 73 yet, but I suspect the defense change might make knights more survivable. When playing them I've tended to get bored out of my mind from being immune to everything, so I go wander off in search of tougher monsters only to find some that can one or two shot me to below half health. Then I burn through all my potions as it chases after me faster than the knight's horribly slow walking rate until eventually I die. I don't like the class, and I've only been keeping at it to try to unlock paladins.

I think I'm going to wait for the class changes to go into effect. Rumor has it we'll be getting three new classes to unlock.

My character's name is Evilnut, and just reached level 10 (from 3) tonight. I stuck around Kitti the Archer for most of it. Playing with someone indeed is more fun and more effective, I've never made it past level 5 before.

Also of a great deal of help is a tombstone of a wizard... I don't know what happened, but the equipment are quite powerful. A 60-80dmg wand and a 50dmg fire spell. No rings though.

Since it's a peaceful beach, maybe it's on purpose... starting new characters?  ???

Good to see at least one game from that compo is being continually developed, as opposed to the others where all the updates they are making are bugfixes.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Necro-threading for build #78

New dungeon!, Spider Den: 2 new items and an estimated 5,000(!) xp per run.
Characters were moved serverside (Meaning all old characters no longer work)
Multiple logins are blocked, so no more duplicating items.
We now also have 6 servers.

Looks like priest is still the most loved class. I logged on (as a level 16? wizard Evilnut) last night to try the new dungeon feature, and found 5 priests at the spawn point.

One of them used a key and opened a dungeon (I think). We went in, but all but one priest and me remained after meeting two bosses (an iron golem and a ghost thingy). The priest and I managed to clear the dungeon.

Then we went above ground and met some other players, priests, a few knights/paladins (I can't tell), a ranger and a few rogues. We went fighting a lot of gods, Medusa, Beholder, Trents, etc., but not everyone made it. Eventually there are no priest left in my general area (or maybe they are too far ahead), and I have not a single ring of protection (just speed and greater attack). So I went back to beach and call it a day.

Apparently characters being moved server side does not mean what I want it to mean.

Is there a monster manual for this game somewhere?

I logged in and found myself pretty close to the upper right corner of the map... so I went there, and there's a huge patch of black land with some pretty big monsters.

I was wondering what I just killed... a volcano-like brown mountain-thingy with 1 mouth, 2 arms, 5 eyes and shooting a 5-bolt fire in a fan-like pattern. And a Cthulhu or mind flayer being that is big and tough but only shoots a single tiny green bolt.

Then I got chased away by a big red winged demon (barlog?) and a blue puff of flame... I hate those flames' chaotic movement pattern.

you probably found a mountain. thats where the gods recides.
Medusa, 2 kinds of dragons, ents, 2 kinds of gazers, that volcano-thing and some others i've forgotten about.

Apparently characters being moved server side does not mean what I want it to mean.
I think the game uses cookies, which are saved on you computer, to remember who you are.

Now that you mentioned it, yeah, I I killed an ent too.

Perhaps the old cookie contains character data which can be easily hacked... someone did, and they moved the save back to server-side.
