Stationing squad?

How does the station squad work? Whenever I decide a place to station a squad only 1 dwarf goes there, the rest just goes to the meeting hall and chat and drink beer -_- Very annoying now that I'm waging war on fire imps.

did you assign all your dwarves to 1 squad in the (m)ilitary menu?

No, I have alot of different squads. I have never really fiddled with military since I never gotten far enough into the game to make one. Since this is a reclaim I have tons of different squads and no real idea on how I remove and remake squads.
