Wiki to end all Wiki's? The Wiki part sounded important, so I added it twice.

So you have a server to host this on? If yes, are you going to open it to the public right away (like the other DF MUD was open even during the development phase when nothing was ready/usable)? Because if its a MOO, players can get down to creating stuff right away, even if it follows no rules or mechanics, which would be great for prototyping and encouraging finding some new and unthought of stuff. When the base mechanics for the worlds and stuff are set, you could just make a server wipe so that we start again using the mechanics that would have been defined.

I should be able to host it at home.

 Wikiworlds? Definitely Wiki-something.

It will be donataware, like DF. As soon as I figure out paypal.

Once this gets off the ground, I'll add a new section for it on my forum.

See the NWP THREAD. I now own wikifirmament.com/org/net. As soon as I figure out how, I will put things there.
The Mock-up will use LambadaMOO running on an old PC in my house, and will be purely co-op world with some simple restrictions. It'll be much more on the sandbox side for the moment. Nothing is running yet, but there will be something soon.

Feel free to post suggestions and comments at the NWP site.

Turns out Wikicosmos is taken by a domain squatter, but I was able to get WikiFirmament.com,etc.

Fixed it!

People are going to be confused when they see the word 'Wiki' and then discover it's a MUD and have to download something.

I can't access the wikifirmament site, guess you haven't created it yet  :P

Anyway, keep us posted. And here's some questions:

Is combat going to be involved with this game? Some sort of pvp?

Will we be able to customise our general areas, like the office, storeroom, etc? Cause it'd be a bit weird if someone visited your hellish dimension to find you sleeping in an office cubicle.

You can fight over Relics, killing both players and their NPCs. Players are immortal, of course, and they can resurrect some NPCs, but that can cost mana or power, especially if you die outside your realm.

Your home rooms will most likely allow free manipulation. Your "Office" would be where players meet you, yes. You can almost always go to someone's office to leave a note, but the office could take the form of a throne room, a platial mansion, a endless white expanse, a lovely oak desk in orbit of Jupiter, or quite possibly, indeed, a cloth-covered box.

I'm still trying to see if I can execute it on my web server. We'll see.

edit: I think not. As soon as possible, I'll set this up on my old machine. Bah, they make you compile the C yourself...

Will we be able to expand our "office" area, by linking more rooms to it?

Quite an awesome concept, should net donations when you get a decent flow of players into it.  ;D

Huh, you mean LambdaMOO makes you compile C yourself? Weird, i was sure there was a ready-compiled version... or maybe i'm thinking of the windows build for it, not the linux...

TinyMUSH has a program that compiles it for you...uncompiled stuff for servers isn't that common, although there is usually a pre-compiled package.

I love sandbox MUSHes, never tried a MOO though.
