Great, We'll use that for the prototyping project. Can you add "prototype 1" to that somewhere? Also, I don't have a place to put all the legal stuff, so please add any copyright info you'd like on there as well.

Due to my inept helper, I still need to bring XP up to date. Still should get the server running tonight, though. I'll spend this weekend configuring it and building the actual proto-world. Then, I have to work.

I think that inheritence will work just fine for tags. You'll probably be able to do this:
Code: [Select]
create "wooden sword"
tag "wooden sword" [Construction:fine_wood]
tag "wooden sword" [weapon:sword:weak]
tag "wooden sword" [value:15]
tag "wooden sword" [weight:6]

And make your wooden sword act like a wooden sword because it will inherit burning scripts from the "wood" object, attack values from the "sword" object... Sound good?

I have a good deal of experience with photoshop, so just ask me if you need banners, buttons and related imagery for the website.

Sounds good....if you ever need ASCII Text, google for an online Figlet Engine.
You can get hundreds of fonts. :)

And that system sounds good, will we be able to make our own tags then?

I dont see why we'd need to use tags like that. We could just have variables with the wanted effects, something like:

set "wooden sword" damage=5

or something, i dont quite remember the format of LambdaMOO code. But this way, we wouldnt need a parser to transform from tag to code, and really, its not that hard to use these variables as-is.

Well, I have the server running, but I don't know how to get it accessible from the internet.

BAH! My network connection here is weird. I do have a cable connection at annother site. The only problem then would be that it's ten minutes away at all times. I'll see what happens.

WinMOO's database dump format should be perfectly compatible with LambaMOO.  But why not just run the LambdMOO server in a virtual machine instead?  This would also neatly sandbox it in case you added any extensions that accessed the local system (you're going to want FileIO at the very least).

MOO was one of the first programming languages I learned, but after learning Perl and Python and the like, I really chafe at how primitive the MOO language is now.  Programmer types aren't going to find raw MOO code appealing, so what you want is a nice expressive builder language that unlike the primitive commands on $builder, would actually let people design program logic with it.

Look at Inform 7. Technically, it is an IF language, but the interesting part is how it managed to be near-english.

I'm not saying that you should find a way to use it, but it's syntax, or a limited subset, implemented in your game, might be a huge and valuable feature.

I knew I was forgetting something!

I've been tinkering with this all day, but I think I've got something now. Got port forwarding set. Let's see...

Anyone want to try this:

Probably won't work.
