2.6 million? Why would I want to immigrate there?!?!

Alrighty, so I have 70 some dwarves (about 15 are babies/children) in my cozy little fortress, I have had very few die (like 3 maybe), and my wealth is 2.6 million and my imports are only 600k, not sure what my exports are, but the point is, WHY IZ I NO GETTING MIGRANTS GALORE?  I keep going seasons without migrants...hell I think the last time I had a migrant was in my second year and now I am in year 4 and I want more sla...dwarves.

Did your civ die out during worldgen?

Even if your civ dies out you still get migrants. Just pretend they're wandering mobs of homeless, fortless refugees.

I could be wrong, but the migrants you get might be more related to how quickly your wealth is increasing than how much wealth you have. So make some more quickly.

I am not saying 2.6 million is a TON of money, but I made probably 1 million in one year (the other years haven't all been uber productive because I have my dwarves spread out doing grunt labor), but I still  didn't get migrants really.  :(  Oh well, I am restarting a fortress to set up my fortress-surrounded-by-a-pool-with-mist-generator-and-ballista-walk-way because I like restarting

In one of my forts, I set the pop cap at 20, dug out and smoothed/engraved everything, then once I had everything prepared and awesome I turned up the population cap... and just one migrant eventually arrived.

Agreed, you obviously Do not build much, i usually get around 5 million in one year,try getting legendary stone detailers' by smoothing all your walls before engraving

Even 3 deaths will scare off migrants if the deaths were recent enough...easily spooked critters, they are.  Give it another year or so, and I'll bet they'll start to show up.

And if any of those three deaths were nobles, then the effect is a lot bigger.

Losing a high ranking noble can stop your migration for several years, though there are a lot of things that effect migration.

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
(Full frontal ones, apparently.  With very short beards.)

I have the opposite problem.  My population went from 115 to 8 in a very short time after I found hidden fun.  Lots of stuff was destroyed.  Nobles died horribly.

I then got a wave of 8 and a wave of 20 dorfs.  Most of whom were eaten by the titan that arrived at the same time.

Then there was my previous fort, where one dorf walled himself off from the world and every immigrant was drafted and stationed by the magma next to the rampaging goblin ambushers.  Each year, about 15 to 20 dorfs arrived, despite the danger.

Though if migrants aren't coming because too many dwarves (or nobles) are killed, you get a different message from the normal "Your fortress did not attract any migrants this season."

Right, the other two I've seen are the "Migrants were too nervous to travel this season" and the "deathtrap" one if you've had a ton of deaths.
