inorite?

I also annoyed some people with my constant raeg at the way they made all quest-elites in the expansions immune to fear and therefore unsoloable.  I loved killing huge monsters on my own, man.  Killing Lord Azrethoc at level 36 was one of the most exciting moments I had in that game.

I also looked coolest during those levels.

Turns out I still have a screenshot in my Photobucket.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'm getting all nostalgic, but I'd never go back.  They're watering it down like crazy, PvP armor is just slight color alteration, mounts at like level 20.  I remember spending something like 600 gold and over a year to get my epic mount, one time I got kicked out of the group right after we killed Immol'thar because our group leader was a derp.  Now you just pay like 40s and you're good.  Lame.

This is what's wrong with PvP.
I'll admit to knowing little about WoW but in that situation surely you'd just res at the graveyard?

Also I liked the way WAR handled ganking, if you try to PvP in an area for people of a lower tier you get turned into a chicken with no skills 1 life and a 1 damage attack. This rather amusingly screwed you over completely if you were on PvP server and wanted to go back to do quests or similar in a lower level area.

Rezzing at the graveyard takes away like 25% of item durability and has a ten minute period of res sickness, which makes you completely incapable of doing pretty much anything but alt-tabbing and checking Facebook.

The durability thing isn't too bad at low levels, but once you get higher up it's a huge expense, especially if you wear plate.

Anyway, I've heard lots of good things about WAR, I'm going to try the free trial.

The problem with ganking is that it's not always high levels.  The aforementioned Stranglethorn Vale, as well as Tarren Mill and some parts of the Barrens are full of people who hide behind trees, under bridges, all over the place and jump out while you're fighting a monster.  They're your level, if they were playing fair you could probably take them, but coming out of nowhere when you're already engaged you don't stand a chance.

Anyway anyway anyway!  Does anyone else play Warhammer Online?  What server should I join?  We can be special buddies.

Also, compound hiding with rogues ability to sneak around, and run quickly while invisible, and do horrendous stunlock while dealing massive damage that you can't respond to, and pretty much any location with a bit of cover becomes deadly, specially if there are a ton of quests that need doing in there.

Lowbie pvp in WoW is all about twinking: gettting high level, hard to get, and expensive gear and slapping it on a lower level toon. Though this is less true than it was in the past due to some key changes.

IMO the real fun is at lvl 80, and for the most part classes are failry well balanced. I use a DK, a Lock, a rogue and a Mage for pvp myself, all lvl 80.

For a pvp server, I would recomend a small group of Druids, at least 3 who level together, 4 would be better. You will be able to do just about anything, and all be in stealth if need be

I just have to say, this is a wonderfully refreshing and civil talk about WoW compared to the normal reception it receives here.

I was never into PvP. I think for the year or so I played WoW I did maybe two battlegrounds and even less duels. But, one of those duels was a wonderful experience - I lost badly the first time (Holy Priest) but then the person I was fighting stuck around and taught me a few tricks and pointers, and when we re-duelled, I won. Whoever that guy was, thanks man. It's bros like that who make the MMO experience great.

Oh, and my brother plays WAR. Got a 6 month subscription for Christmas. No idea what server he plays, but what I've seen of it, it looks alright. A bit underpopulated, though.

Got to level 45 twice then buggered off, no point playing. Can steal a family members account though if I want to play, but I don't.  Its fun but... I can't grind.

Heh, World of Warcraft.  Level 45.  Grind.  Heheh.

The grind at those levels is easy.  Even at level 70+ I was getting a level every two days or so, and at level 45 you can get two levels in a day if you really work at it.

Questing is the big thing, if you don't quest the levelgrind is a huge chore.

You suck dude, go empire. One of your first quests as Empire is slaughtering your farmers. ;D

Also if you want a tip do RvR, Head over to the PvP zone and join in if there are any big battles going on, otherwise join the scenario queue/join any parties capping the BOs.
