Wrong sub-forum, mates.

By this I mean MOVE THE DAMN TOPIC. There is a button for it, I hope you know.

It doesn't help that he was an absolute dick rude about it.

zchris13, you know better than to call people names.

The Architect, why are you trying to start trouble?  Leave it alone.

No, there are free indie games on steam. Just look for "Coil", it's one of the flash games that won the indie games awards a year or two back.

Oh, wait, never noticed that it was actually tagged as a Demo. Nevermind, putting DF on Steam would probably cause Toady more hell than it generated donatations. Maybe after a few more development arcs, specifically the interface arc...

Yeah, Toady's stated multiple times that he just doesn't wanna work with outside organizations in a businesslike fashion.

It's better that way. In many, many ways. Also right now Bay12 is a NPO, as far as I can tell. There may be all kinds of legal issues if he decides to commercialize it at any point.

I don't know if it's possible with the regular Steam version but I just noticed that with the beta Steam layout I can use the Steam overlay while playing DF if I launch it with Steam. So you can chat with other peoples while you're dorfing without alt+tabbing. ;)

I think Steam also keeps track of how long you've been playing it. :D

Surely Dwarf Fortress is also a demo in it's current state?

And yes, there are "Free" games on steam, but they're filed as "demos."

However, a free demo that has all the content available normally and no restrictions is effectively the same thing.
