Wouldn't entropy get rid of you at some point?
Well, in Real Life (tm) you'd eventually die, of course. I'm talking about true immortality, living forever no matter what or your money back immortality, where mere physics cannot stop you.

That would be *interesting*, since you would have time to discover perpetual energy and rebuild the entire universe. And watch new civilizations grow, new species evolve, and the universe die out again. But after a few cycles, it would be practically guarenteed that someone else would have joined you...

Unless ofcourse that being in that situation is the most boring thing ever, and you purposely stop others from making the mistakes you did and refuse them access to immortality... that sounds like a fairly cool book actually, supernatural beings sending assassins or something to stop people from discovering immortality.

Ah but once there are two of you, then it isn't eternal boredom. Eventually you would be a whole race of gods a pantheon looking down upon and guiding all life in the universe..

Okay, so as soon as there is a trend to name children after gods, we'll know when we're gonna get immortality.

Yeah, but 2 is the most politically unsound number ever.

I would prefer to find a way to reverse entropy *before* the universe is entirely gone, so that I can personally watch it go and be remade...

That's because it is awesomeness distilled.

...

Isaac Asimov. I like him. If someone ever needed immortality, it was that guy.

Hey, there was this short story about a man named George, too. Excellent. I can't find it on the web, but George lives in a society where everyone gets info downloaded through tapes, and he is deemed inferior and goes to a house of the inferior or whatnot because he can't get info downloaded.

Cory Doctorow used this in Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. The lead character is murdered at the beginning of the story and wants to find out who killed him while everyone else thinks he's obsessed and making a big ruckus about nothing.

Wait, how can they think he's obsessed if he's dead?
