Okay. So we're all aware of Mortal Kombat, which is one of the most hilarious things in existence, in my opinion. So I got to thinking, why hasn't anyone made a mod of it for DF?

So I got started.

Now, when finished, this'll be primarily an Adventurer mode mod, seeing as the entire spirit of Kombat is one-on-one challenges and ripping people's faces off with your bare hands, and doing generally unpleasant things to human flesh. So far, these are the critters that are going in.

Clan Shirai Ryu
- Basically, just an entire faction/race based off of Scorpion.

- The monks, generally. An interesting thing I did with their ethics made it turn out that they were so pacifistic they wouldn't hurt me after I stole stuff. Had to fix that.

The Tarkata
- I love Baraka. He's just so... ugly. And arm blades. That goes for his entire race as well. I made these guys to be this mod's equivalent of Orcs. Unlike the other races, they only rely on their bite and arm blade attacks. Playtesting revealed that this is... more than enough.

Critters: Fire Elemental and Spawn
- The Fire Elemental megabeast is meant to be a gigantic ball of fire, one that you can't punch to death essentially, since it's made out of fire. The spawn are nowhere near as hot, of course, but they're meant to ambush you anywhere on land, for fun.

So these are just the critter files, and I'm still working on the entity files and item files. Now, I want to use a better body though, since the current DF body is relatively simple and honestly it would be more Fun if you had more things to punch off. Does anyone have recommendations?

(Another thing I've noticed: the current melee attacks do way too much damage. I went adventuring around as Sheeva and got beaten to death by children. Embarassing fate for a semimega.)

I'm still vacillating, though. First off, I was planning to include the Edenians as a bunch of immortal, heavily armed and armored standard race, but I don't know if they'd be unbalanced.

I'm not sure if you can mod it in, but some kind of 'challenge' command would be nice, to prevent others from interfering.

Yeah, I was looking for something like that.

The closest I can think of is [ETHIC_ASSAULT:ACCEPTABLE], which I think will make it so that no one intervenes when you up and murder someone in their entity. On the other hand, that means no pitched battles between Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu ninja, so it's kind of a hard choice.

The best I can do is give the Shirai Ryu kunai with a high stick chance.

Or give them a built-in piercing weapon, so that the text reads, "Crying "GET OVER HERE", the Shirai Ryu ninja fires a spear at your right upper leg!" "It is pierced!"

I was thinking on making variations on the Elder Gods, but they're not supposed to fight. So possibly elemental-like avatars of the One Being.

I also need help for the language files, though. I'll ask my Chinese friends about that for authenticity.

Music is easy to do. I for one have my current DF music as Butter Building from Kirby =3

All you have to do is change the sound to .ogg and put it the same file-name as the game music in the init folder.
