Uhhh... That is Rainseeker's mouth...

I realise Rainseeker is amazing and that life springs forth at his feet, but he isn't Toady.

This time... this time, I'm sticking with Combat Specifics until the bitter end.  Combat is DF's very soul and you're all big meanies who are taking it for granted.

I want Kombat Specifics as well. :(

Specifically (heh), if there'll be something like fallout's VATS system, or we'll continue hacking at someone until we luckily hit their head.

There'll be something:

Quote
# Req230, AIMED SHOTS AND BODYPART SIZES, (Future): Should be able to aim at parts, AI should do it too, body parts currently have relative sizes but it should depend on the creature rather than just the part type.

But yeah, it'd be cool to hear Toady discuss that in more detail.

Okay, I'm breaking a personal rule here, but because I feel that combat has been shafted a bunch, I'm going to tell you guys:  Combat never does well in these polls, and it's following the pattern again true to form.  If somebody really wants us to talk about this, they are going to have to do a bunch of campaigning on the forums to get it to happen.  Good luck!

I think that 'combat specifics' is both incredibly vague and narrow, and trying to discuss it in more than 'will it be like this, will it be like that, will there be this' terms for more than ten minutes would be pretty harrowing.

But don't you guys have a magical mic that makes everything sound magical?

*sigh*, maybe it's just not meant to be. Combat Specifics, that is.

I really want to hear about it though.

Yeah, I don't get all the whining about combat specifics not being voted for.  That's what a vote is, what the plurality of people want.

If people want it, that's cool and I'll certainly do my best, but unless something phantasmagorical happens even my microphone will not be enough to make it a sustainable conversation on its own merits.

While people want to hear about the new combat specifics, it was done before in a thread where multiple, specific questions could be asked and Toady told us as much as he wished.

Keeping that in mind why don't we save those questions for a forum thread?

I'm voting for combat specifics. Can't get enough info about the new system.

Combat specifics. Is three shirts adequate protection from a cat?
