And I'll remember you as the guy who ignored my pleas to surrender while bombing civilians and got comeuppance for his trouble.

Crashed when I tried to load the save.  I think it's because I can't patch it because I'm running vista.

I'm running Vista, and everything works fine. We're using Nova and whatever recent EFS patch, so make sure you're running this from a different copy of EFS than the EFE game. Maybe admin mode as well, I dunno.

Try downloading the save again. The game crashes whenever the file is corrupted.
Happens to me every now and then.

Hey guys!  I heard about this game from one of the Dominions 3 threads and I'm very interested in giving it a shot.  I seem to have it up and running okay (though if I alt-tab out, it quits out), but I have a quick question.

I downloaded the game, unzipped it, had to change the registry entry a bit to get it to run on 64bit Windows 7, then downloaded the NOVA 2.3 patch and unzipped it into the game directory.  Is that all I need to be playing the same version you guys are?

Upon loading the game I noticed the style is -exactly- like Merchant Prince, which was a game I friggin' loved, and so I looked it up and turns out it's the same developer!  :-D  I'll probably definitely want to get in on any new games of this you guys start, if possible.  Assuming I like the game when I play it some in the next couple days.  >:D

Yeah, you did do that properly.
Beware, however - the game is a mess. AI is hopeless, stuff doesn't work etc.

Anyway, what's with mainiac? Is he going to play this or not?

I can't get this mod working on 64 bit.  Let Lorak play.

What are you, joking? You ARE playing this mod - in escape from earth, you know.

If you can't load the save, just download it again, it's probably corrupted.

To get it to work with 64bit, you have change the entry it puts in the registry.

Hopefully you know at least kinda how to work the registy.  Here's what I did:

Open up the start menu and run RegEdit in the search box.

Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\   and delete the HDI folder.

Goto the directory you installed EFS and open the file EMPEROR.REG with Notepad.

Change the file so it looks like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Save EMPEROR.REG, and then run it (If it asks what to run it with, use RegEdit) and add it to your registry.

Now try to run the game.  Should work fine.

Edit: This works with Windows 7 64bit.  I have never used Vista, so I'm not sure if the registry is the same way regarding 32bit games on 64bit.

I use Windows 7 64-bit and never had to do any of that, mainiac, what install files did you install the game from?

So. How is everybody doing? Haven't heard from anyone in awhile. Insurrection just isn't the same unless you have somebody watching.

It seems like we're missing a player again. Kranach is in Finland picking up berries or whatnot and won't be back untill fall.
Any takers?

I was hoping mainiac would join.  Having an active, experienced al-Malik would be ideal.  I've updated the topic reflecting we're looking for another player.
