It has too much negative connotation to it. It's like calling a person a dog (Assuming that you view animals as lesser beings.) It doesn't sound right, and we try (Most of us) to make everyone equals. It's probably also a reason why we try to call girls "she" instead of "he," since it seems degrading and assumes a certain sense of ignorance on our part.

Unfortunately, I read most posts through the emails that I get.  You can't get rid of those so easily.  That can also get greatly confusing, because it doesn't color posts or show formatting.  Oh well.
