Turn 3Location: Kickoff CaveKILL THE DEMONIC SPAWN. OR RATS. WHICHEVER IS NEARER.
"Die foul mutants! Courage and Honour!"
draw a knife in my off hand, and dive into combat as whirlwind of blades
I load three arrows at once and triple shot the remaining ratmen!
Anyway, more rat stabbyness. attack the maul-wielding ratman with 2h spear
Spin around with my MAUL!!!! I NEED RAT CARCKING SKULLS! and gold
dermonster=4, 6+3. Luke_Prowler=6, 1+3. SHAD0Wdump=4-1, 2+2. Haika=5-1, 3+2. Jetsquirrel=6-2, 4+4.
Dermonster flies at Ratman 1, attempting to get the high score on the "Cut Evil Things in Half" game he invented and is playing in his head, and once again cleaves an anthropomorphic vermin in two. He grabs his
5 gold.
As dermonster is about to stand back up and face the ratmen, Luke_Prowler vaults over him and into Ratman 4, hitting it for 4 damage. Luke_Prowler stumbles, and the wounded ratman takes its chance and attempts to shoot him point-blank with its bow, but is interrupted by an arrow to the face, courtesy of SHAD0Wdump. They each pick up
3 gold.
Haika stabs the final ratman through its chest. As it looks down at the wound, a maul comes crashing down through its head and upper body, sending bits of ratman everywhere. Haika looks up and sees Jetsquirrel at the other end of the hammer. Each of them picks up
3 gold.
You all look at the room around you and see that you've cleared everything threatening out of Kickoff Cave. You strut out of the cave, throw all the things the ratmen dropped that nobody claimed into the cart, and the short man takes you back to Haccenville, where the high priest guy gives you each
15 gold for your troubles. "Thank you for clearing out the cave," he says. "We can now store our manure in it once again." You now notice that the generic villagers coming up to congratulate you have all quickly pinched their noses and moved away, and decide to take a bath if this town isn't too poor for water.
"So we have a new quest for you. In some ruins near town, there are a gang of tricksters that claim that they know magic, but we know that magic doesn't exist. They've been assaulting travelers recently with some pretty bizarre tricks, so we want you to go into their headquarters and take care of them. Find out how they're doing their crazy 'magic tricks' too."
The owners of Bob's Weapon Shack and The Best Defense is a Good Defense run out of their respective shops and take a look at the weapons you brought back, then look up at you. "A stiletto? A round shield? A whip? Whenever you get back to town with these new weapons, make sure to show them to us. We'll make them ourselves and sell you some." They then hurry back in their shops and start making items.
Off in a wagon in a distant town, the manager of a branch of Throws You off a Wagon Travel Agencies looks over his papers. "There have been a few people recently asking us to take them to Haccenville," he says, pointing at an unmarked dot on his map. "I guess we should let them sign up on a list and we'll take them there when we have a wagon going through. Two spots sounds about right."
---
Now there's a waiting list! With two spots! Also, everyone but SHAD0Wdump leveled up their weapon skill but I'm giving him an honorary Level 1 Bow skill. And I'm updating the
shop post so you can buy the new weapons.
Okay, so to avoid problems with people switching to bigger weapons out of their inventory and ruining the point of 0H weapons, you can put weapons in your inventory and switch to them, but you can't attack on a turn you switch to a new weapon. You can only have two 0H weapons ready at a time, and switching to another one counts as switching weapons. And if you get too many things in your inventory you'll get burdened and suffer penalties for that. Also, you can wield a 1.5H weapon with a 0H weapon equipped, but you can only attack with the hand-and-a-half weapon one-handed.
To alleviate burdens, you can sell old weapons and armor to the weapon and armor shops. They'll buy it for 50% of its buying value. All unlcaimed things will be sold and their price split up among the party. Grabbing stuff from the communal loot just to sell will result in a smack upside the head, though that doesn't count for any riches you might find for yourself in a dungeon later.
Also, the next dungeon is going to be significantly longer and more dangerous, though not without a significantly better reward. So be prepared.
