I just wanted to start a thread for collecting rules in the style of "ARTD&D". Like "Advanced Roll To Dodge. And Dragons." Basically, an RTD-RPG with rulings reminiscent of D&D, but it seems you got a good start towards one here. I'll gladly follow your experiment.

Yeah, basically this started when I wanted an RTD with more rigid rules and a smaller party. We'll see how it goes.

Turn 1
Location: Haccenville
So I'm just going to go ahead and make everyone do some training with their weapon of choice since that's productive. I also buffed the spears a bit because I thought they were a bit weak, changed how bucklers work almost unnoticably (they now are a little worse for people with one-handed weapons), and renamed the round shield to kite shield since I decided that I wanted those stats on a kite shield.

Bastard sword 12, chain mail 15, and light healing potion 3 = 30
You spend all your gold on weapons and armor, deciding it's best to be prepared and hope to find more gold in the dungeons. You're not too worried about not finding any, because a guy once told you he killed a wolf and it was holding money. He never figured out where it held it, though.
3. You swing your new sword around to get used to it, gaining Level 1 Sword Skill.

alrighty, I'll buy some chain mail(15) and a spear(13)

Then I'll take a roll to train some with my spear while we wait on the others. ;)
You go for some heavy armor, not messing around with potions or anything. Prevention is the best cure, you always say. You put your remaining 2 gold in your inventory for later.
4. You stab at the air with your new spear and get Level 1 Spear Skill.

1 Maul,leather armor,healing potion,cure potion
and ask for a pair of crappy pants to atleast hide my legs

You get some offensive power with a big-ass maul and some potions to deal with what your weapon can't, leaving you with no gold. At your request for pants, the owner of The Best Defense is a Good Defense steps out from behind the counter and shows you that he's not wearing pants either. "We can't afford pants around here, sadly, or I'd sell you some. Hopefully you chaps will revitalize our economy so we can get some chaps. Get it?" He then motions at a cup labeled "Tips for Puns," causing you to motion towards your empty wallet. The armorer looks quite dejected.
5. After swinging your maul around and, at the request of some townspeople, bashing some badly-placed trees into sawdust, you feel like you've got the hang of this maul thing. You have Level 1 Hammer Skill, and 1 experience on top of that towards Level 2.

"Bastards took my power armor... Someone better get me some pants before I start crushing heads"

My shopping list:
1 short sword (-8 Gil Gold)
1 buckler (-7 G)
3 knifes (-12 G)
1 Light Healing Potion (-3 G)
Total -30
You buy some weapons, then realize that you're not going to be crushing heads any time soon with nothing but bladed weapons. Jetsquirrel tells you about the town's lack of pants and you don't even bother asking the armorer for some.
4. You swing your sword around for a bit, and get Level 1 Sword Skill.

Shortbow(10),buckler(7),leather armor(10),light healing potion(3).

I then ask hopefully for some trousers to protect my dignity.

You buy yourself some weapons and armor, depressed as anyone else by the lack of pants in Haccenville and determined to help the town enough so you and its residents can be fully clothed.
2. You look at your new shortbow and get ready to practice with it, but drop it in the mud and have to spend a few minutes cleaning it.

The town's high priest comes up to the group of you now that you're fully equipped. He gestures to a small cart pulled by a three-legged horse, which you all get in, trying to ignore the obvious signs that this had been recently used to haul manure. The priest then picks up a tiny man and places him on the horse's back. "Howdy," the small man says. "I'll be your driver for today." At that, the man scratches the horse's neck and you leave town, traveling at what you assume is a decent pace for a three-legged horse.

After about ten minutes, you arrive at a dinky looking cave surrounded by some trees. "Welcome to Kickoff Cave," your driver says. You climb out of the cart, and walk into the cave.

As you step into the cave, your eyes adjust to the slightly lower level of light. You see a long, winding tunnel, ending in a door. There are holes in the walls of the place and piles of garbage everywhere. Despite there not being any signs of life, you hear occaisional quiet movements. Luke_Prowler, eager to crush... er... cut heads, steps forward, his foot landing on a peice of garbage, eliciting a loud squeak followed by a crunch. He kicks the piece of garbage and finds a dead rat under it. As if following some narrative cue, dozens and dozens of rats swarm out from every part of the cave. You prepare to defend yourselves from their miniature but multitudinous gnawing maws.

What? I can't crush heads with my bare hands? Whatever.

"Why is it always rats?"

Throw a dagger at the horde, then attack with my short sword.

I'll get one up as soon as the finish the first dungeon. Which should be in less than five turns, honestly. I designed this to be easy-peasy.

I don't believe I bought a spear...

I decide to not waste any arrows on these things and throw trash instead.
