I have experienced an issue when I have tried to hijack a car, and have been "spotted by a passerby", and have then ran away. As my uber-Sword wielding liberal cut down the pursuing Death Police/Policemen and they escaped, I received an error message that shut down the game.

After doing this multiple times in a row for testing purposes, with varying numbers and varieties of cops...it continued to do so.

This is using the latest version of LCS on Windows XP.
