TF2 Kart Mod 'Present Work' section added to OP

Arright!

The idea here is to make a Kart racing mod for TF2. Ideally, players would be able to fire weapons from their vehicles. The weapons will probably be modified at some point. Players will not be able to get out of their Karts, sharing a single health bar and collision with their vehicles (possibly with some weapons being more effective hitting the driver rather than car). Below is a list of things that need to be done. In green are things that aren't an immediate focus, but would be necessary to really call it final.

To get things kicked off, the first thing we need to do is make a vehicle on a Team Fortress map. This is our initial objective. Spawning into the vehicle as of yet is optional. The vehicle will probably be the standard go-kart.

-Model kart
-Set physics/groups
-animations
-TF2 friendly

Possibly both. I was thinking maybe each class would have a vehicle and an unlockable vehicle.

Of course, I'm not sure how the engine would handle a bear as a vehicle. And I sure don't want to model and animate a bear.

Anyway, if we do, the bear must wear the player's hat.

 Upon recollection, a train would make a better main vehicle. Big, heavy, slow, will heave other racers out of the way.

Racing Karts is about finding the ideal line. Racing trains is about... uhhhh... I dont know, I guess it boils down to slot car racing techniques. With more mass  ;D

So while we're discussing stuff that isnt even up for discussion yet I'd say no to the train and yes to a truck or summat. Tho the mental image of a Heavy on a Tricycle is just right  ;D

Either way, scout screams "cycle messenger" so much, it almost hurts he doesnt have a bike in vanilla. Maybe some fixed gear racer. Yeah, deffo looks like a fixed gear kind of guy. Old school messenger and stuff. So please, for the love of everything that's natural, give this man his bicycle and the universe is balanced again.

May i humbly suggest using Gmod loaded with tf2 props as a base game?

Also, i nominate payload maps as test maps, they already have vehicle collision code.

Nah! The medic isn't actually a doctor, rather he's somewhat of a psychopath who enjoys disecting things, any healing is accidental. As such I propose what is obviously a van painted to look like an ambulance, with the back doors open to reveal it as a portable "surgery".

As for the spy, he can retain his spy cloak and disguise to replicate the backstab he can whilst disguised use an emp device to take out nearby vehicles.

 I would imagine the spy and scout classes having motorcycles. Spy because it makes cloaking and stabbing seem better while keeping the cool theme, and the scout for obvious reasons.
