Battlefleet Gothic
« on: January 14, 2010, 08:11:30 pm »

Just bought a decent-sized lot of Guard/Spays Muhreen bits, and was surprised to find a small collection of Imperial ships mixed in with the lot. My question is, has anybody played it? I'd like to know how good it plays before I commit USD $armlegfirstborn to a copy of the rulebook.

So, is it worth the investment?

It's quite fun if you can get past how long games take to play out.  The rules, while robust, are not all too complicated.  I'd recommend it.

I love this game, I have an imperial/space marine force as well. My friend got my Chaos ships that came in hte big boxset. We also have a Necron and Eldar force as well, + orks for anyone silly enough to play them.

I actually love this game, its such a simple yet amazing fun system. The updated rules are a must, I did NOT like to fire all my Nova-cannons in one round. Fighter combat is very fun as well.

I can't remember what my fleet consists of though, at least 1 BS (emperor class) a few BC (battlecruisers) about 7 cruisers, about 3 destroyers and about 12 frigates.

They do, you just have to order it from the GW directly. They have big ol' catalouges to look through.

used to play this myself. Used a fighter based chaos fleet.

1 despoiler class battleship
1 grand cruiser
4 cruisers (i forget their classes)
6 idolater escorts
3 infidel escorts

It was a good all rounder. Plenty of firepower, good speed, plentiful ordinance, and durable.

I also had the planet killer, which I brought out for special occasions.

Hmm... just had a thought... anyone here good at coding? Cause I just had a great idea.

Well if its to make a battlefleet gothic internet client. It probably better to use the vassal engine. http://www.vassalengine.org
