something epic like, a hunting spirit of fire

It's dwarfy and all, but good luck getting to the kennel without bursting into flame.

Or even if you did somehow manage to train it, wait until it follows your dungeon master into the booze stockpile...

it is outside, where the kennel was, and chained at my front door steps, shooting fireballs like a whore

Look in the raws for whatever creature you want to tame (*cough* TITAN *cough*) and add [PET_EXOTIC] and some minor stuff like [PET_VALUE:OVER9000] or so. Check the wiki on that, I don't want you to break the raws because I forgot something ;). From then on, your dungeon master can tame that creature the same way you'd tame others. IIRC, there is also a tag to make them Hunting ... or War ..., like dogs.

That shouldn't cause any bugs. And [trAINABLE] is the tag that allows animals to be made into hunting/war beasts, I believe.

I like making towers to drop them off of, though this doesn't exactly work for all creatures.

One time, I captured a titan. Since you can't have dwarfs lead it up a tower to fling to it's doom without escaping, I built a platform. I linked it to fall when a support was destroyed. When I finally pulled the lever, the cage fell to the ground, punched through 4 z-levels of my fortress, and ended up in my dining hall.

See, the great thing about this game is that I can't tell whether that was an accident or the intention.

only if you dumped prisoner goblins in with it from time to time.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

Heh. I was thinking of an *Ambush Sentry*, would not only spot ambushes, but also slow/stop them and slaughter half of them before my marksdwarves arrive.

War giant cave spiders are made of win.

Now I want to know if Hunting GCS are invisible to gobbos and wildlife alike, until they web and massacre them all.

If so, my woodcutter teams will always be escorted by hunting GCS.

If I release a goblin female and a goblin male from their cages, is there a chance for them to get together and make little green men?

Build a giant maze with traps and stuff and drop them all in it. Set a few on fire. Add elves.

I modded one of my previous forts to have trained giant cave spiders. They were great hunters, but kind of a nuisance when I wanted to catch some wild animals, they eradicated everything that wandered onto the map. Plus they occasionaly webbed my dwarves by accident.

Yes. It worked in The Museum. But they'll slaughter their children from time to time.

In what version was this tried? [Breeding gobbos]

Because I've been trying that, and the word is since they're a civ race, they need to be married to reproduce. And since they're invaders, they don't form relationships. I suppose you could hack their relationships to make them husband and wife...but as it is they won't when they're on the war path.
