I have a link to a compilation of articles about such statistic, but it is in Russian:
http://guns.orenburg.biz/art999.htmlI've found a similar, less expansive article here:
http://www.justfacts.com/guncontrol.aspThere are a lot of those.
Btw, while we in Russia are not allowed to own guns, I don't want or need to, and would not waste money and time buying it and trainng with it. I just happen to live in a non-criminal region, which is rather fortunate for me.
But given that guns seem to greatly and positively affect crime rates overall - I'm all for it. It just has to be not absolutely free ownership (like - you go to a shop, ask for two AKs and one Glock - and get them, no questions asked, that's stupid), but you have to get a license similar to a car license, have to confirm that you can stilll use it effectively once in a few years, and walking around drunk with a gun should be punishable and possibly grounds to revoking the license.
Of course, not everything would be perfect and some would die because of it - but MUCH more would live and/or be unmolested, and it far outweights that.
And besides, in theory you can minimize or even completely negate shooting sprees and accidents by proper education.
Try talking a 5 drunk robbers that mugging, beating the shit out of you and then possibly killing you 'just for the lulz' is a bad idea.
