Taking a look at it now.

Edit: No sand so glass will need to be imported, otherwise looks good. And I think it has a waterfall. Outside river hits a 2 -> 0 section. Huh, just did the search with 'Other Features' and it came up with a place.
Other Features is HFS.
Sand cannot be imported, so there is no glass available here.

That's why I said glass would need to be imported.

I picked that swamp for a decent amount of swamp - so that we can grow stuff before we flood the rock tiles.

Starting in the mountains and tunneling to the swamp is probably a good idea, if we pick my area.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Well, time to kick off in glorious fashion!

...then everyone gets torn apart by giant lions. FUN!

Alrighty, can't wait for this to begin!

I don't think anyone answered my previous question, but are we/can we use 0-value room rent? I personally have some problems managing room rent and usually turn it off. I could try and cope if you all prefer it on, of course.

At least it won't be elephants. (Or, as I've heard, Unicorns.)

I would like to join. It would be my first succession game, but I'm definitely not my first experience. I've been playing for a few months, and I've gone through most of the wiki. I use a mac, so I have ZERO lagging.

Having a Mac in no way guarantees less lag. The game is native to Windows anyways, and as such it runs more efficiently on a Windows. Don't get me wrong, I use a Mac too and I love it to pieces, but still. Sorry 'bout the semi-rant-ish thing.

Well if COD players all have ADHD, and Minecrafters autism, then what do DF players all have?
Cave adaption.

DF on my mac is better than my PC. I don't even try my PC any more. Seems like it's good for any game EXCEPT DF. But, I've never experienced any lags with my Mac Dorfs.

Well, presumably your Windows box has a better graphics card, which is pretty much the limiting factor in all games, whereas your Mac has a better processor, which DF obviously relies almost entirely upon.

I'm the other way around. My MacBook (it's a little laptop) couldn't handle DF on adventurer mode, let alone attempt fortress mode. On the other hand, my PC (a somewhat customised but otherwise old thing) is tons faster.

I know I started this, but I would rather someone else go first :P
This is my first succession fort, so I would probably be bad at setting up the basic utilities for stoping rampaging dwarves from mauling the babies, kittens, and puppies of the fort...again.

I use a PowerBook G4. It's customized, which is pretty unusual for a mac. It's meant for mixing sound and sound-engineering, but I have it doing 3D image-processing.
