Day 150 continued, So we are here, the river is too deep to ford, to wide to float. We must find another way across. Luckily enough another caravan was right behind us as we arrived at the crossing. We meet with the leader of that caravan, to find it was the same guy who told us he was heading to California and was glad he didn't have to cross snake river. I was wondering why on earth did he come this way for then?
He told me he couldn't resist my meat, and that he had followed hoping to solicit some more. He knew the Indians here would need spare clothes in order for us to cross. He knew I hadn't stocked up on any spare clothes, so followed us in hope of getting a good supply of our meat for a few measly items of clothing. So we made a deal...
And we crossed the river...
Day 158, Oh god, Valar's insane habits are getting weirder and weirder. Today I found him trying to seduce an ox, what he was doing is too disturbing for me to write down here. I just don't want to think about it. As a result, Valar is starting to act very sick, and we have one injured ox.
Maybe we should have turned back at Independence rock when the missionary was with us. He would know what to do.
Perhaps we should slow down to a more steady pace, We are all starting to get sickly again.
Day 159, whew what a day. First as we were leading the caravan along the trail, one of the wheels got stuck in a rut. It started to warp as it was pulled at an angle to the direction we were traveling. After replacing the wheel, I notice someone running off in the distance. Odd I think. Then I see the mess around the caravan. Someone had ransacked us. Valar, had been sleeping amongst the food when I had last seen him. That thief had stolen meat right from under Valar's nose. Course Valar didn't care our meat was being taken without our consent.
I went to rouse Valar from his sleep and lecture him. Maybe if I yelled loud enough some of the sense would get through to him. But poor Valar did not rise. The disease must have taken him sometime that morning. Let's hope it isn't contagious or has affected my meat.
We then proceeded to quickly bury Valar off the track a little. May he rest in an peace and no longer be bothered by these demons.
Day 160, Goron and I arrived in Fort Boise. I have no motivation to continue, we deserve another rest. I have a feeling this trail will be the death of me.
