Oh, I can forgive it looking like ass, I mean, we play DF and all that ;)

But yeah, the system32 thing is irritating and at least they should warn you about it or word the question better.

Man. I think they out-EVE'd eve online.

Despite all the fun I'm making of it looks like a fun sim so far.

Kael, you're playing it too!   :D

Any ideas how to find warp points? I'm bored of Sol  ;)

... give me a bit of time, I'm only on part 3 and 4 of the tutorials on the forums, building ships and managing starfleets/commanders.

Also, madly clicking on everything like all the button pressing I did when I first started up DF to figure out what's going on.

You have to either build a ship with a jump engine, or design a ship to construct a warp gate that lets ships without jump engines to use the jump point.

Thanks :D But how do you find jump points?

You use a ship with a gravitational survey module (spelling). You may start with them, or the means to make them, you may not... depends on your game settings and tech.

Basically you need to have the ship survey the 'survey locations' which there can be many of, and they may find one of the jump points if there are any, they will then show up as an orange circle on your system map.

You can set your ships to do this automatically too, if you go to their special orders tab and set the default order to survey those locations, then when it doesn't have anything else better to do it'll go to the nearest survey location and investigate it. When I make a ship with automatic commands I always include a conditional (30%) refuel command too, in case I forget about it :)

I'm really enjoying this game so far, thanks for showing it to me!

Can't figure out how to set a class when designing ships.. So everything I do in ship design causes a string of error boxes presumably regarding there being no class set, telling me to report to a forum that doesn't apparently exist. It also doesn't look like the game is all that fun, anyway.

Rakonas: Hit "New" in the lower left corner to create a new class.

Read this to learn the basics of the game (if you decide to continue playing, anyway).

Ships take a long time to build. In any event, i think i've got everything on this game down. Now i've just got to go unload these 50K colonists at Mars. Let's hope i make it.

I hate to be paranoid, as it's been pretty fun getting in... but I can't think of why any game would need to make changes to windows system32.

seriously, it's still bugging me.

The game makes changes to the system32 folder because the installer is a standard Microsoft Visual Studio installer. The changes are Microsoft's not the game's.
