Wait, I think he managed to get the missiles into the ship, just not into the launcher. Did you assign missiles to launchers in the combat windows (F8)?

That was my other thought, I just initially went to the first because of the whole thing about loading ordinance. But yeah, gotta use the combat window to assign missiles to launchers.

Just had some very fun time. Im playing a Humon conventional Empire on Sirius, with one habitable planets, two moons with Col cost of less than two and a few Venusians that I SMed to be terraformable in less than a century. The lore is that some kind of VERY BAD CATASTROPHE reduced the former Human Galactic Empire to dust. Every one of the habitable planets has been seeded with ruins of the former Empire.

Anyway, at some point, the Construction Brigade on one of my colonies awoke robotic soldiers. They overrun the colony, prompting about two/third of my civilian shipping to surrender. The civilians ships then rammed all my other civilian ships to dust.

Thanks god they didnt go for my shipyard, so I was able to crash build some patrol vessel to escort a troop transport and retake the colony. Lots of fun slalomming between slow, unarmed freighters to get my troops to destination.

You could always try carbon-breathing extremophilic reptiles. I had a custom race, the Ssa'phyrax'eath, or Xe'ath for short: cave-dwelling reptilian organisms who evolved on a world with plety of carbon dioxide and not much oxygen, much like primal Earth prior to the Blue-Green algae blooms that created our massive stores of atmospheric oxygen.

Just play with the values and make something up. If you're not the lore-ish type, I could happily share a few dozen alien races I made for my scifi novel. :)

I was not aware that it was possible to play carbon-breathers.  I'll have to test it.

Is this game even worth getting into? I played for a bit back in like 2012, was not good at it whatsoever.

No, it's terrible. That's why this thread has 1100 pages.  :P

Honestly, if you didn't like it then, you probably still won't like it.

Yes it's worth getting into. And I doubt anyone is going to help you out until you knock that chip off your shoulder. So good luck.

Its pretty similar to what it was years ago, just with smarter AI and amusing features such as 'underground infrastructure' that lets you colonize asteroids for instance.

The AI is smarter? (other than better pathfinding by using LP's)

Eeh. More like things are set up to cheat for the AI to account for things it doesn't do properly now. That said, next update is going to have AI that can use carriers and fighters properly.

It's not. What he's done is create an oxygen-breathing race with a very low required atmospheric concentration. You can only have oxygen and methane breathers, but you can vary the amounts they need wildly and RP the rest.

I like doing an amphibious race with 20% oxygen(or methane) and 80% water, sometimes at 2 atmos combined.  Other common one for me is an extreme temp race.  We're talking 200C to start with.

One that keeps happening by accident but I run with is a race that values orbits.  Their home world is a moon of a gas giant that orbits a star that orbits another, some times that star orbits another.  They see the more orbits something is part of the better and the less things orbiting something the better it is.  They would see the Earth as a lesser planet along with it's species because the Moon orbits it, and they would see the Moon as something of more value because it orbits Earth which orbits Sol.

Is there a way to set up a "space race" scenario against an NPR? I would like to start a game sharing Earth with an identical empire, with no starting ships. Apparently I can't start an NPR at conventional tech?  And starting an NPR trans-newtonian automatically gives them ships. Is there some way to use SM to get rid of their ships?

You could delete them with designer mode if you had the password, I guess. No idea if this would break the AI or not.
