USe them as decoys during an AMM PDC assault?

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

I used to turtle hardcore in most of my games and started without NPRs or NPR spawn chance. With the new update, though, I'm probably going to start with one NPR ad 0% spawn chance, seeing as how they can tech up properly now. Ofc. you've got to make up for the easy pre-combat time by setting the difficulty to 1000% or so, so that when you do turn on NPR gen chance, they pop up with a few hundred warships.

Not trying to be mean or anything, but posting purely to say you won't be contributing/interacting without having been asked to is either literally pointless, or even malicious. You wasted a bunch of your own time typing down that post, and achieved anything from nothing, to insulting/annoying those who enjoy the game. Heck, now you've even got this thread on the New Replies page now.

...Anyway, does anyone know how to spawn another civilian shipping line without cheating in SM mode? And are two shipping lines more likely to produce more ships than one, assuming they're all subsidized to the max?

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

First post! Learned of Aurora from this thread and now I'm unable to enjoy other 4x. With the latest release/patch I'm getting an error at 10-20 year mark every game. I just hold down the Enter button until it stops spawning.

I don't think so, I subsidised one company quite a lot and they spawned a lot of ships soon after, eventually your going to wish for an anti-subsidise button to get rid of so many ships.

Did you try the 6.42 patch? There was a bug with truce countdown in v6.40

Yeah, if you aren't willing to SM in new civilian lines, the most reliable way is probably to make a lot of business opportunities by opening more systems and colonizing more planets without subsidizing the extant line(s) at all. It's not surefire, but IIRC there's a general correlation.

According to Steve, this was something that was toned down in 6.4. Ships will be decommisissioned after time to make the game run faster. And I think companies are building less ships.

Huh, my tug is unable to tow a ship that had it's fuel tanks supplied, because the towed ship doesn't have enough fuel to move...

The less-stupid civilian shipping lines have been in for a while. This is just a patch to make them retire old ships more reliably.

Also, happy 1k pages.
