Are you putting a maintainace supply bay on the corvetes? That seems like an awful lot of supplies for only 2 engineering spaces. If you are, I'd strip it out and replace it with the same size in engineering spaces.

I'd aim for a maintainance life of around 3 years, as you will want to bring the ship back to spend a year in overhaul at that point. If space is an issue and you can't affrod to add enough engineering spaces to reach that length of time, ensure that you have at least twice the max repair value in supplies on board and design a supply ship to add to your fleet train to resupply your fighting ships.

Your R1 sensor for picking up missiles is rather short ranged, I'd place one triple it's size on each corvette and one ten times it's size on the battleship. You want to be able to track incoming missiles for a period as you gain a bonus to your PD's effective tracking speed based on how long you have been tracking them. This bonus is capped by the max tracking time bonus techline. You also want each corvette to have at least a basic sensor so that they are not rendered unable to fire if you lose the battleship.

If your fleet doctrine is going to have every battleship escorted by a squadron of corvettes, I'd consider not putting any PD on the battleship itself, use the space for some additional lasers making it into a dedicated anti-ship vessel. I'd also put a second firecontrol on it, as it stands one lucky hit with a meson cannon renders it unable to fight.

As above, add a second FC to the BB. Also note that if you add the PD suite it'll bump tonnage up quite a bit, hurting your Vmax and range. The armor belt is a tad thin for a ship that large, but not abnormally so. I'll second the suggestion to have the corvettes as dedicated PD escorts. Do note, though, that unless you have obscene numbers of them, some missiles will still get through.

A note on earlier discussion: I find it worthwhile to use (much) larger numbers of single or dual gauss turrets slaved to a larger number of PD FC on my PD escorts, both for added redundancy (you lose fewer guns per hit and can better survive a FC loss) and because you can target more seperate volleys. The latter is more of a concern in my 1000% difficulty campaigns where I can find myself facing off against literally hundreds of enemy missile ships.

It is probably a good idea, as that is what your CIWS uses.
I meant company as in more of the civlian companies.  Even thou that does answer another of my questions.  And would it be a good idea to put marines on all of my major ships, or would that tonnage be better devoted to something else?

No. It's a waste of tonnage; AI doesn't board and your own ships won't be moving quickly enough to have (m)any survivors.)

On the industry tab of the colony window, clisk stockpiles in the top right. It will show any prebuilt components there. If you have salvaged components, it will show them there after you have unloaded them from the cargo bays they were placed in when you salvaged them.

How do you get jump engines to work?  I'm trying to figure out a multiple things without sititng for several hours researching things, so I used SM to design a JE.  My fleet is composed of 8 ships, including the jump ship, and the largest ship is 36,000 tons.  But whenever I give it the order to do either standard transist or squadron transist, I keep getting the message "Battle Task Group cannot carry out the transist order as at least one ship is larger than the ship with the highest jump rating.  No friendly or allied jump ships are avaliable for escort"  This is the jump engine that I have mounted on one of my ships-

J50000(8-750) Military Jump Drive     Max Ship Size 50000 tons    Distance 750k km     Squadron Size 8

The 36,000 ton ship isn't the jumpship, right? Even if they have an appropriately rated engine, ships can't help ships smaller than them jump.

Is your jump ship the largest ship in the fleet?

That post and everything below it is the only sort of offical changelog as far as I know.

It's a purely visual change that basically gets rid of animal racial pictures and also includes humanoid pictures collected by someone else which is already downloadable on the forums. It's up to you, really.
