I have a lazy asteroid miner.  I have a dozen asteroid miners working happily elsewhere in the system, but I made a new colony on a moon and sent a newly build miner there.  He's doing nothing.  The ship screen has him assigned to the population on the moon, I've moved him away and back, but the mining screen still does not register that he is there.  Any ideas?

I think they work only on asteroids.

They also work on comets, but not terrestrials or dwarf planets. I'm not sure if they work on "chunk" class moons in this version.

Does this still require a monitor that handle screen resolutions of greater than 1082x784? Because that's what's been keeping me from playing this.

Aurora on small monitors:
1. Game Parameters -> Reduced Height Windows.
2. Lock taskbar to the right side of your desktop.
3. Run Resize Enable

Akura probably wants to run it as-is, not while fiddling with windows that weren't designed to be resized. ResizeEnable works, for the most part, but it can cause an already-clunky game to become even more clunky.

More or less. It seems like it will require a .dll file I may or may not have, though, and I don't think I trust the site linked in the original post to get it. Nor would I be able to get it from there, since I don't have an internet connection to begin with.

Generally, if you check the option that uses narrower windows, it will fit on most reasonably sized screens.

Except that most laptop screens don't fall under that heading. Hell, plenty of older monitors/computers can't do that.

After 45 years of a conventional start game I finally got a propulsion scientist. Perfect timing too, mineral shortages on Earth are forcing me to expand and consider extra-solar colonies. Unfortunately, I have no military so any exploration is going to be risky.

What should I build for a low-tech starting force? I have no missile scientists, but my best scientist is specialized in energy weapons with a 45% bonus. He's also old and sickly and liable to drop dead at a moments notice.

I'm thinking of using swarms of meson-armed fighters with a few large laser warships. They will be mainly used for jump point defence as I can't see many other ways to engage a reasonably advanced NPR without massive casualty's, given the technology I have to work with.

Frankly, there are only threeish windows that need to be resized, and none of them are noticably distorted by the resizing. If it was a shitty program--okay, I'd probably still use it. But no, it doesn't make things any clunkier than they already are, speaking from a lot of experience.

I also run 1366 x 768, and have been successful without even running any other resize program.  To be blunt, most of the "hidden" buttons aren't crucial to the game.  Helpful yes, crucial no.

Just, you know, fiddle around with it.  If you can't fiddle around with the program to get it to work, Aurora just isn't a game you'll be able to play anyways.

After trying some of the apparently dated methods of resizing the windows, this is a godsend. I've wanted to play this for a good while now, but was turned off by not being able to see everything on my craptop. I actually just popped in here once more to ask about how to go about resizing the windows. I honestly cannot thank you enough.

Oh okay, mine is 1600x900, and another was smaller but they both ran okay on them. Guess I just have used laptops with large screens.
