Big spaceships destroying other big spaceships.
And also sending soldiers to fight aliens who have far inferior technology. Or lots of soldiers onto aliens with equal/superior technology.

More specifically, sending big spaceships that you personally designed, along with just about every component and weapon system, through the vast reaches of space to blow up other big spaceships that you spent in-game months gathering intel on, purging alien worlds to make room for your own kind, and doing battle against ancient and powerful foes that can lay waste to entire fleets without breaking a sweat. And winning.

It is always interesting that you can build HUUUUUGE ships that would make Aircraft carriers cry.

I let my LP die because effort > motivation. Been thinking about starting an AAR because there's much less pressure involved. Not sure if I want to when 5.70 might be released "soon".

Well, start a thread, we'll follow.

Alright... Let me prepare the world first... I'll tweak the game rules so it less or more like the soon to be released 6.00 version...

I let my LP die because effort > motivation. Been thinking about starting an AAR because there's much less pressure involved. Not sure if I want to when 5.70 might be released "soon".
It not 5.70 anymore... It's 6.00 now... Steve implement so many changes that the number goes up...

Guess i am too retarded.
Wheres the fun in this game at?
The 'fun' part is meeting enemy ships in corundium rich system that 3 times bigger and 5 times faster, releasing missile salvos 4 times faster than your own and 3 times stronger while losing all of your carrier task groups and forces you to abandon the whole systems...
And then you spend 6 years in game time, researching necessary techs and building the new generation ships. Using these new technological breakthrough. You prepare your fleet, entering the systems hoping for battle only to find those ships that killing you 8 years ago, are now SPACE WRECKS... Someone already pull the trigger, and whoever he is, He is much more stronger than the enemy you expect...

In that case, I'd speculate the boost to 6.00 gives Steve a lot more time to get it out.  I'd even wager his main reason for calling it 6.00 is that he realized that it will be at least another month before he is ready to release it.

Dunno. 5 civilizations on earth thing which is fairly common would be waaaaaaaayyyyy too difficult. Maybe an Iron Sky themed one.

Try a 'vanilla' scenario. No SM races, no special shits, no overload of fun. Maybe add more labs and put some ruins or Mars, but that's it.

If I do an AAR (which seems more and more likely--much more so than another LP, at any rate) I'll probably be running two human polities and one alien one at most. I'm honestly sort of in awe of Steve's ability to run five or six difference races ("races") at once for so darned long.

I would recommend doing a AAR of a "homeworld" ship.

You just -SM- Build a gigantic ship, with docks, the ability to extract gas from places, some colony stations and so on - then just fly off and let the AAR write itself by what you meet. Withhin the ship you can dock a handful of player-build ships.

I've tried something similar with a Space Battleship Yamato type idea. Actually.....hmm. I just had an idea. What about a Battlestar Galactica-type idea? Each player is a ship captain in a ragtag fleet of freighters, colony ships, etc. Government could be "by quorum" (and if you had a ton of players, they could even elect council members). Some could be civilian players and some could be military (An Admiral in charge of the Battlestar itself, other players as leaders of Viper squadrons or Raptor FACs).

The goal of the entire group would be to get to Earth (Which could be added via SM and positioned a suitably long distance away). Problems could include scarse supplies, periodic Cylon attacks, and not knowing where Earth is. Scattered ruins could provide map clues, but cost the fleet valuable time. Civilian players get more points for surviving, whether it be on Earth or on a new colony world they settle (or even under Cylon occupation). Military players get more points for fending off the Cylons, finding Earth, and remaining free of occupation. This would lead to divergent goals over time and some nice internal friction.

Imma have to work up some rule ideas for this, but I think it could be fun. No research or colonies to worry about (at least early on), and it'd be like a hybrid of Aurora LP and Mafia, ESPECIALLY if one or two players also happened to be Cylon infiltrators. :D

That'd be a heck of a lot of fun if the GM had the stamina to carry through with it.
