Also keep in mind that they won't be able to start working until you've done a geosurvey with a survey vessel.

Although I believe using a geosurvey team on a unsurveyed world will actually generate a message in the events log telling you that.

I noticed the survey thing a while back, but even when I did finish the survey they were still not doing anything. Ah well, time to start a new game.

Doesn't sound like a bug. You don't get any updates from your survey team unless they find minerals or decide there aren't any more to find. If they're surveying an asteroid or small moon, they may sit there for years without any update.

If you want to test it, disband the geo team and re-form them on a big planet. You should get results within a couple of months, but they'll likely also "complete" the survey and you won't be able to get any more results from that planet.

I hate that mechanic. It's so annoying that you could have a team of morons that take one look at a planet and say "Yep, it's all tapped out", and then no matter how good of a team you put together later, they won't be able to find anything there.

I've produced a large fleet of FAC's with no engineering and while waiting for my Planetary hanger/carriers to be finished I've discovered that i can simply put them into overhaul every month, should this be considered a bug/exploit? I can only produce 5 FAC's at a time and have limited shipyard and maintenance facilities, so why should it be possible to overhaul 10 FAC's as well as half my other fleet at one time?

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

As long as they're in orbit of a planet with maintenance facilities, they should be automatically maintained. It's not free, though, so not an exploit.

AHA, so what i didn't realise was that they were only getting damage because i had them out on training. *facepalm*
I guess that hanger is rather useless now.

Well, ships in a hangar get maintained for free.

And planetary hangars provide a safe shelter from enemy attack.

also shorten reloads and allow reload of boxed launchers. (unsure if they shorten all and any missile launcher reload)

Also allows damaged fighters inside to be repaired using the mothership's supply.

And AFAIK there's no speedup associated with non-box launchers.

Can you un-obsolete components? I accidentally obsoleted fuel storage while trying to obsolete a ship class (which I can't seem to find) and I want to bring it back.

I didn't think the game would let you obsolete fuel storage...

EDIT: I guess it actually does from the ship design screen. At then bottom of the component list, there's an option to show obsolete tech. Enable it, and then select fuel storage again and hit the obsolete component button to toggle it's obsoleteness.

Also the ship obsolete button is in the upper right corner of that screen.
