Don't bother putting replacement battalions in brigades, that is just wasting the oppotunity to train a real battalion. Just have them accompany a full brigade on their own. As I normally build transports to carry a full brigade of troops/engineer brigade, then you need five transports to carry a full division so use the four free slots on the transport carrying the divisional hq to bring along four replacement battalions.

Thanks, so having better quality replacement battalions has no effect? Their statistics improve like a normal battalion, and they are so much cheaper to train.

It goes further. You can hook modules up as a train, just make sure that the last module has no tractor beam on it.

It's due to the way steve originally disabled tractor chains and the way around it.

Quote from that other thread someone mentioned "There's a bigger bug that that, hidden in the same code. I can use a Hyper-capable tug to boost a load into Hyperdrive, then detach the tug and send it over to grab the next load... while the original load continues moving in Hyperdrive, despite having only normal (non-Hyper) engines."
I gotta try exploiting this next time i find a big binary system.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

That makes me consider:
It would be cool if (normal) engines could be overtaxed, just like in the books. . .
or rather: run at less than 100% for a boost to maintenance.

Yes, build a ship with a tractor beam. Tractored ships are removed from their current taskgroup and placed in that of the towing ship. As that task group belongs to you, so does the ship you just requisitioned from the civilians.  :D
:D

I had no idea you could do this. Now I must build a "tug police" ship.
"Sir, do you know how slow you were going?"
"I know officer, but this ship is 70 years old and still uses nuclear therm engines."
"I'm afraid I'm going to have to impound the vessel. Follow me."

Now here's a question...can you tractor alien freighters/colony ships?

probably. it probably also causes them to get REALLY pissy with you.
Only one way to find out...

Depends a lot on whether Steve intended it to work that way, or if it's just an 'undocumented feature'.

Actually, I rather like the fluff behind the idea of going pirate and tractoring foreign shipping. It sounds like one of those features that really is a feature, rather than a "feature".

Is there a way to order a ship to be scrapped at a shipyard? Or do I have to self-destruct it and then salvage it?

Scrapping is a shipyard task. Fly the ship to the location with the shipyard and you can choose scrap from the shipyard task interface from the dropdown.

This game sounds really fun but I can't seem to figure out how to play...

Can someone PM me - I want a mentor over teamviewer or something.
