The 1st Cruiser TG, the main Solar defense force, was dispached through the Alpha Centauri gate. As there is no gate, and no jump tenders capable of transporting a warship of that size, they are trapped in-system. Travelling to recover the life pods from the 2nd and 3rd Frigate Squadrons, they encountered the same fleet of alien warships. Shortly thereafter, they came under attack from large waves of AMMs, each composed of three launches of 33, 33, and 26 missiles. The total observed number of waves was greater than 50.
Thankfully, the Warhammer class cruisers, although lacking in point defense range and tracking speed, have much thicker armor, as well as primitive shields. Roughly 2/3 of each wave was shot down, the remainder impacted to little effect. When the final wave had struck home, the Warhammer and Biter had both sustained minor damage, and two other ships had armor damage. Three ships, two of the same class, departed from their fleet to the secondary, indicating that those three ships were responsible for the massive volume of fire. It comes down to the six unharmed or lightly damaged cruisers against six unknown alien vessels, representing four classes, divided into 2, 2, 1, and 1. One of the classes with a pair of ships have the only detected active sensors in the enemy fleet. On an individual basis, our cruisers have a 3-1 tonnage advantage against the three larger, and a 5-1 advantage against the smaller, giving us a total tonnage advantage of 4-1. However, the enemy clearly has much more advanced technology [robot bastards probably have particle beams
], and the outcome is uncertain. Regardless, we will prevail, rescue the survivors of our previous expedition, and crush the foe into dust with our interstellar jackboots.
HAH. Their sensor ships had decent railguns, but I popped each of them with a single salvo, and the rest are armed with 40k range Gauss cannons. I'm not the one running now, am I?
What most of my combat reports looked like:
This one was notable because it had enough armor to not be killed outright.
